I have a strange one that I noticed today and thought someone might have seen it, have an answer, etc.
We have a WSS3.0 Site Collection that we are using for the IT department at my client site to collaborate (I'm working on getting MOSS but for now, they are getting their feet wet with WSS)
I created a site under the root site of the site collection (Home > Secure Site) and removed permissions for everyone except a few folks. This worked fine and all users except those few do not have the menu item displayed to them. Great.
What I noticed is, if another user is the Site Owner of a sub site (Home > Another Site) then when they are on the site that they are an owner of, they see the link in the menu bar for the Secure Site. Granted that when they click on it, they get a security error so there is no information disclosure but it is annoying as one of the compelling features of WSS 3 vs 2 is the security trimmed interface.
Is the security trimming not applied to ANY items if you own a site Is this a known bug

I have experienced similar behaviour. I am a site owner of one sub-site.
When I click on the site that I own, I suddenly see tabs to other sub-sites. When I try to click on those sub-sites, I get Access is Denied.
When I am in a different area than my sub-site, then I do NOT see those other tabs.
Seems like a bug to me.

I can't believe that Microsoft hasn't confirmed or denied this. It is obviously a bug :-(Tryin2Bgood
Can someone tell me if this is unique to my installation or if it is a bug in the product
Should I post this in another forum I loked at the categories and this seemed like the best fit :-)
