I am hoping someone can help me out with a problem I am having.
I have created an excel webservice that contains a couple of pivot tables.
I have add the spreadsheet into my trusted location, I have also added the data connection into the trusted location.
So when I open up the dashboard containing the pivot table it displays the pivot correctly. My problem occurs when I try refresh the pivot the table I get this error.
Unable to retrieve external data for the following connections:
The data sources may be unreachable, may not be responding, or may have denied you access.
Verify that data refresh is enabled for the trusted file location and that the workbook data authentication is correctly set
Does anyone know what config setting I am missing that is causing this headache I have sent the last 2 days hunting the web to no joy :(

To further assist, can you describe how you defined the connection. Which data source are you trying to connect to what is the authenication mode you have set for the connection
Also, it would help if you can paste information from the uls logs for your scenario. Please make sure to set the trace level of the logs to Verbose for the all category. You might also want to check the NT Application Event log and see if there's any event that better describes the cause of the failure.
