Me, too.
ID 7hmh...
We found it after trying to backup our Sharepoint sites through Central Admin... Also had OWSTIMER.EXE 0x0d24 in there... Our backups quit working at some point and we cannot figure out how to get them going again. We start the backup, but it just hangs at the "preparing" message....

Hi David,
The error you are seeing ("hangs at preparing") is a DST issue. I was on the call with MSFT support and they confirmed to me there is no solution for this. They are planning for a hotfix but they have no idea when it will be released.
The way we solved the DST issue is we switched all of our sharepoint servers to Arizona timezone, and manually change the time to the current tiem (for us California).
Hope this Helps!
Steven.

I have the same question with some different hex error codes:
02/27/2007 11:40:35.54 OWSTIMER.EXE (0x02FC) 0x0A84 Search Server Common MS Search Administration 7hmh High exception in SearchUpgradeProvisioner Keyword Config System.InvalidOperationException: jobServerSearchServiceInstance is null at Microsoft.Office.Server.Search.Administration.SearchUpgradeProvisioner..ctor(SearchServiceInstance searchServiceInstance) at Microsoft.Office.Server.Search.Administration.OSSPrimaryGathererProject.ProvisionContentSources()
I'm getting 'Retrieving...' forever when looking at the SSP Search Settings page - is this related
