Multiplexing??

Hi Folks

I've been a Scenarist author for sometime and now want to jump into HD-DVD authoring. Was wondering where to find a third party multiplexing tools once the programming is done

Thanks - I'm sure this is the first of many posts here!

Workflow is something we are still working on; there are a handful of tools like Sonic's multiplexer but no broadly-available, easily-affordable components for smaller studios just yet. Hopefully there will be more offerings in this market soon.

Sorry...I was under the impression we could author a HD-DVD without the use of a program like Scenarist.

    After Reading this: : http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp url=/library/en-us/dnwmt/html/introduction_to_hd_dvd_authoring__codz.asp

It says I will need a service provider or third party tool to multiplex the title Just curious what it means by third part tool

Check out this link....did they use Scenarist 4 to author this disc

CreateACA creates archive files, which are like ZIP files (contain lots of other files inside one big file) but without compression. Basically ACAs make it easier to manage files on the disc and so on, but that is not really "compiling".

Multiplexing is where you take the various elements (video, audio, iHD, etc.) and combine them all into one file with lots of "packets" of information.

Are the Toshiba System and the Sonic Scenarist the only available multiplexing tools for HD DVD type2
I can’t imagin that this kind of multiplexing is much more complex than for standard DVD. But maybe I’m wrong.

I bought the DVD MovieFactory 5 by Ulead
    http://www.ulead.com/runme.htm

At the moment you can only author Type 1 HD DVD but the support from Ulead said there would be an update available soon to author (compile ) Type 2 HD DVD. It's very cheap (you can't compare the SD DVD authoring with Scenarist off course), so I bought it and I am curious what their next step will be ...
I think Scenarist HD is quite expensive to be just a compiler, can't afford the investement in these early HD days...
In fact, isn't the CreatACA.exe a compiler (haven't reached that step yet in HD authoring)

    Hi Eric, welcome aboard :-)

Scenarist should do the multiplexing for you; am I missing something

Is it a legal issue that Microsoft can't bring out their own compiler (or authoring software) or is that market protected by some laws You don't have to charge anything if it is a commercial issue
By the way, are there some white papers available somewhere that describes the workflow of HD authoring This forum is a big help and I personally did a lot of SD DVD authoring but HD authoring is something else...
I always feel  I'm  missing some basics  (and it's not just the scripting)

    Thanks again

You can create and simulate interactive content on a PC with the Jumpstart package, but you can't create a real disc without a multiplexer and formatter / burner / replicator / etc.

I don't know what The Elephant's Dream was multiplexed with; sorry.

(Also, please be careful with your newlines... the forums don't truncate extra whitespace at the end...)

    I hope so too.
