Question about WMVCore.dll

Is there documentation somewhere about what version of WMVCore.dll ships with different versions of Windows (especially Win 2K and later) and if that requires the user to have Windows Media Player installed (or not), and also if that (dll and/or WMP) is installed by default with the factory version of the OS. We are discussing using some Windows Media technology in an app and wanted to know more about what distribution, if any would be required for this required dll.

Thanks,

Bryan

I don't believe there is such a doc. I can tell you, though, that unless you are specifically using Windows Media Player functionality, you probably care only about the wmvcore.dll version on the machine, since wmvcore.dll does not depend on the WMP.
