Given the promise of so many good things from MS's adoption of the VC-1 codec and the wonderful marketing campaign surrounding WMES, despite downloading all possible tools I still remain unable to do a simple operation: rejoin .wmv segments without glitches or artifacts showing in WM Player.
I have heard a few people say that it is down to the player being unable to deal with the artifacts left behind during the splitting process, but I can see these problems even before the files are joined and whilst they are played individually.
Can anyone help me solve this mistery
Thanks to all in advance.

Hello,
Can I get some more info:
What program encoded the WMV files
What were the general settings you used, for audio and video
What version of the codec were you working (e.g. have you installed the v11 codecs by installing either WMP 11 or the WM Format SDK 11 )
What were you using to try to stitch the file together
What player(s) did you test with and see the issue
Any chance you have somewhere I could download the file and check it out

Hello Ben,
I do apologise for the lateness, and thank you for your reply.
We have used a number of programs to encode the wmv files. These were all off the shelf or even OS ones. The main ones however have been Movavi and ASFbin, but we also tried Adobe Premiere and AVID Express.
The general settings out of Movavi and Premiere appear to have a good interface to the basic settings for WMV9 and the advanced version. Generally we've used WMV9 for DVD quality video (1mbps) in Movavi and WMV9 Advanced profile at 640x480 @ 24fps (square pixels 1.0) with Audio settings for stereo VBR Quality 90 @ 48khz, 1 encoding pass with variable quality in Premiere.
Movavi and Premiere do work well with v11 codecs, ASFbin does not. Generally we use ASFbin for joining and WM Player 9, 10 or 11 for viewing. Results are always unpredictable and there are always glitches.
I will create a test file and post a link from which you can download shortly.
Many thanks again for your help.
