I would like a gadget for my personal site that would be able to pull dynamic content from a message board and list the 'hot topic' or top 5 topics in a seperate little window when you click the gadget.
I click it...the window opens...and the selected content is displayed...
Thanks,
Chris

Gadget for my site...

What RSS stuff do I need to look out for I know there is a MOD for the forums I use now. It says something about RSS 0.92.
Are there standards I need to consider There are apparently like 5 choices from the forum software and the one I am looking at seems to be pretty standard and also popular with the users on the software.

Yeah...sorry after re-reading I see what you mean..:)
I would like to figure it out myself with a little help. I use phpbb software for my forums and though I don't know if RSS is in the software itself I know there are MODs for it that deal with RSS. I will look into that a little more.
I pull code direct from my DB on my main page for visitors with php right now.
I would assume all I need to make the gadget do is open a small window (browser) that I can put the code in as if they were actually sitting on my site at that moment...
Does that make a little more sense I will go poke around about RSS on the software right now.

Well it depends how you want it to look. I have created a few "branded" gadgets for reading RSS feeds.
Example 1: Engadget Headlines
Example 2: Kotaku Headlines
I'm not saying you should develop it to look like these, just that you could, and have different pages for different sub forums. Or whatever :) I'm happy to help with it when you get more information.

I would love a little help in producing a gadget for the site. Just very simple. I have a calendar of events and topics that are being posted too regularly. I would like something that was like 'recent topics' or 'recent events' or even 'today on the calendar'.
If you could help me out with this I would appreicate it. I just need to know what needs to be in place.
