Are there any good tutorials on doing this
I want a small icon of my site on the side bar that when clicked opens in a window that lists recent activity on message boards and other dynamic content from my sites DB...
Amature here so bare with my ignorance..:)

I can't tell for sure what you want, but it sounds like you want a sidebar gadget, here is the link for that forum
