Sonic Emulator not Rendering HDi

I've got a guy from Sonic coming over to our Burbank office today - so hopefully I can get some answers. I cannot even get a simple markup example to show in the Sonic Simulator (they corrected me - it is NOT and Emulator, apparently they are trying to get Toshibas).

I'm impressed you got markup to display. It should be straight forward, just like with the iHDSim, right ;)

If you are referring to the one in SACA, yes I have had it working for quite some time. It's not an easy process and it's not always faithful to how the player will handle it either. Do you know what build you are using

Per Sonic's last training session (early Aug), they dubbed the "Gold Standard" to be what works on the Toshiba emulator. To me this means that they promote their tracing tool to be more important that what the emulator shows/doesn't show. I personally stopped using the emulator to test HDi. The next practical step is use small size videos and DVD-R's (or DVD-RW's) on the consumer player. The next practical step is the use the Toshiba emulator.

We've been told there is a newer build for us, but Sonic has failed to provide it for about a week now :( Their customer support seems really slammed.

Well hopefully we'll get the Toshiba emulator in the next several days.

I finally got the Sonic Simulator to display my menu tray that raises and lowers. I can also change focus on the menu buttons, however I cannot select (using the enter key) any buttons without throwing a runtime error.

Markup has run the same on all versions of SACA for me. Script rendering, on the other hand, has changed from one release to the next. Currently I'm running 4.1b1(410B91A) which I believe will be made available to all any day now.

A helpful tool to use that isn't really taken advantage of is Sonic's trace tool; C:\Program Files\Sonic\Scenarist Workgroup\HD DVD Authoring\Advanced Content Authoring\Tracing.exe. In the newest release, it starts with SACA. Old versions you had to go and start it yourself. It will dump out a wealth of information in real time as the projects simulates. Make sure to start it before SACA or it won't sync correctly with SACA. Take notice of anything in red. It may be something as simple as the URI to the images and/or fonts is not correct and that is why you don't see anything.

Simple markup works good in the sonic emulator but I had a complex menu that worked fine on the Toshiba player but made the emulator crash. Hope they release an update soon.
