Just a quick one here... use advanced filters all the time and usually with data containing over 30,000 rows. I don't know of any way to use criteria such as 'Not equal to' or 'does not contain' etc. This is available along with many other advanced criteria in the auto filter > custom filter however this only works with upto 1000 rows. Any ideas how i could implement these to my filters I am familair with the syntax used in porgramming like !== etc...

Hi Andy, yes thats what i am wanting to do but when i put <> into the cell it isn't recognising it Do i have to add something to it I type in for exampel <>*Mr* and it should filter out all entries that begin with the string 'Mr' is that correct

Hopefully I have understood your problem.
Try using <> for not equal.
