Hello Everyone,
Device Emulator 1.0 (yes, the same one that released with Visual Studio 2005), is now available as a standalone download from: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx FamilyId=C62D54A5-183A-4A1E-A7E2-CC500ED1F19A&displaylang=en
This release comes along with the OS Image for Windows Mobile 5.0 w/ Messaging and Security Feature Pack (MSFP). Using this OS image with the emulator will allow you to demonstrate and play with technologies like Direct Push. Better still, you can now include the emulator and OS images in your online training materials
Thanks,
Anand for the Device Emulator Team

Installing Virtual PC 2004 or 2007 automatically installs the VMNet driver.
FYI: This was the preferred way to get the virtual machine network driver even when the standalone VMNet installer was still out there, as the VMNet installer was *old*

In most intranet networks, your intranet sites will have IPSec enabled. For older versions of CE and Windows Mobile, there was no way to connect to corpnet machines short of requesting a boundary machine exception from your IT folks.
Please check into this matter.

For Internet connectivity, you will need to have installed the Virtual Switch (VMNet) Driver. This is best obtained by installing Virtual PC software:
-- Virtual PC 2004 is available from www.microsoft.com/downloads and Virtual PC 2007 Beta is available by registering via the Microsoft Connect program (http://connect.microsoft.com).
Once you have installed the Virtual Machine network driver (you can check under "My network Places->Properties"), then enable the NE2000 checkbox on the emulator's config dialog. this should help the emulator get an IP address. You can ping the IP address to make sure you have connectivity.

Hi,
Is it possible to install Localized Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC Emulator Images on Standalone Device Emulator 1.0 How I downloaded installer (from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/info.aspx na=47&p=5&SrcDisplayLang=en&SrcCategoryId=&SrcFamilyId=c62d54a5-183a-4a1e-a7e2-cc500ed1f19a&u=details.aspx%3ffamilyid%3dEEC33AE3-C129-4C25-ABAA-18E8E842178F%26displaylang%3den) but, when I run it, it fails because it is requesting Visual Studio 2005 and SDK being installed, but I do not have/want them. I just want to do some software testing on localized images, as I can do on the default english version. My O.S is Windows XP SP2.
Thanks,
Fernando.

I can't get it to browse the internet either. I've tried everything, loopback adapter, NE2000 config, connection settings changes and nothing. At best, I can generate an IP address conflict between the NE2000 NIC on my computer and the one used by the emmulator but, even then, there is no connectivity.
Very frustrating. Get it right people - it shouldn't be this difficult to install/configure/use.

I hope that you are able to help me on this. For the past two days I have been struggling with trying to get a savestate to work. Now let me explain in more detail. I have one computer in front of me that has the emulator installed on it and it runs great. I have added .cab files to this so it runs for a customer with the application that they wanted. I save it and I have the .dess file after I save it. It loads up correctly if I select that .dess file.
Now here is the problem, I transfered the savestate file to another computer with the same emulator on it, and I can not get it to load that .dess file. I can load other .dess files saved from that computer but not the one I transfered over. I need to be able to transfer multiple copies to many users with in that company and not have to load the .cab files on it eachtime. Is there a way of doing this or am I just looking for an answer that is not possible
I don't know if you can help but if you can or can't thanks.

Hello,
I've just installed "Miscrosoft Device Emulator 1.0" standalone and I'm using "Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 MSFP Emulator Images". The problem is that when I'm loading any images in the DeviceEmulator it shows a message "Storage memory is to low. If you do not increase storage memory you may not be able to start some programs. ...". As a result I can't install any kind of programs in the emulator.
Does anybody know how to increase the storage space, or how to solve this problem The problem is with the emulator or with the images that I've used
