Situation:
I had to install Vista Ultimate x64
I installed Visual Studio 2005, SP1. Both in Italian. I could not install the "Service Pack 1 Update for Windows Vista " because it is available only for English.
To work with my PDA, I installed "Microsoft Windows Mobile Device Center Beta 3 for Windows Vista (AMD64)".
I'm able to sync my PDA with my PC.
The problem:
When I run my VS2005 VB application, it is correctly distributed on my PDA. BUT, as soon as it load the symbols for debugging, the PDA gets disconnected from the "Windows Mobile Device Center" (but NOT from VS 2005!!)
This happens randomly, but about 4 times out of 5. I can debug my application, but since my application is trying to access the PC using sockets, I can establish a connection only sometimes (about 1 time out of 5).
Any idea of what I should do
Many thanks in advance !

Vista, VS2005 SP1, Mobile Device Center and disconnects

I checked and I have it. If I try to install it, it says "Another version of this product is already installed, etc etc".
Do you think I should remove it and reinstall
Thanks for answering !

The Dell update was not needed for my device: it was already OK.
So the problem remains

And you have Vista Ultimate x64.
Then it must be a problem with my configuration or with other products I use
OK, thanks a lot for your time.
I think I'll re-install everything from scratch.

Installed the patch and tested.
It keeps disconnecting as soon as VS2005 loads debug symbols
I had no problems at all when I was using Windows XP 64bit and ActiveSync. I suspect the problem is the new Windows Mobile Device Center, but I have no evidence of what is really causing the problem.

OMG, I was not aware about this patch.
Going to install immediately, hoping will solve my problem.
Many thanks for now.

It's better to install a patch.

I’ve normal 32 bit version. I've just 2 GB of RAM and there’s not a single 64 bit version of any application I'm using, so there's absolutely no reason for me to go with 64 bit.

Update:
when i reboot the PC, the FIRST time I run the application I have no problems and no disconnects when the debugging symbols are loaded.
But after this, from the next time it always happens
Is there somebody else doing development using Vista and VS 2005 for Windows Mobile How it goes

Thank you for posting here!
I'm downloading right now.

The RTM version of Windows Mobile Device Center is now available. I'd suggest you upgrade to this version and try again.

I removed the Beta version and installed the RTM version.
The first time I rebuilt my application everything was OK and the device remained connected
When I rebuilt the second and the third time the problem was the same as before
Meanwhile I saw there is a new driver from Dell's support site (forgot to mention I'm using an Axim X51V).
Maybe this is the problem I'm downloading it now and post results here (the download is terribly slow).

I do and I've seen no disconnect issues so far. I’m running WMDC RTM, VS 2005 SP1 and NETCF V2 SP1.
Forgot to mention - I've bunch of devices including x51v.
