  Anyhow specifically the data uploaded on maps.live.com is controlled on Microsoft's internal end, so you can't put up your own data for all to see. However, you can customize your own views by going to maps.live.com, then click on "collections", then "open", then you have a window on the right side where u can input your own collection of data. To upload a bulk of data send up an XML geoRSS file. look up geoRSS format on google or on the forums and you'll find plenty of information on how to do that

  Well,

  creating an own app is just what i do to display custom data.

  For example: http://www.hameln.touristika.info shows custom data that the Tourist Information Hameln collected. if you click on 'Themen' (Poi's)

  you can display all types of Poi's in the City Hameln (like yours from my Sql Db).

  If in sql then you should just write your own app. You will however lose some of the newer features on local.live.com (including driving directions). Theres tonnes of posts here already about how to write out pushpins using sql, but in a nutshell its using stringbuilder to parse out your results from the query being made.

  I agree with you Jeff but what i'm trying to do is upload data into my own private collections and then share these....the idea is that say instead of adding each *** house in Germany, i could just upload them all with come type of bulk uploader and then share them out...I have all my data in SQL Server already....would it be easier to just write an app I like all the extra functionality that is in local.live though such as directions etc..!!
