Active Sync, Outlook and Mobile 5.0 - Making them work!

After much trial and tribulation I figured out the problem in syncronizing my computer and smart phone running Outlook and Windows Mobile 5.0. I hope this helps someone else....

1. Delete Norton Internet Security - COMPLETELY. This is not the first time Norton has foiled me, but it will be the last. I had other problems with Norton when networking, but left it on one of my computers, BAD decision. I now run Trend Micro Internet security and it works great.

2. Disable ALL firewalls EXCEPT windows and make sure it has an exception for Active Sync.

2. Delete all OLD versions on Active sync and download FREE Active Sync 4.2 beta.

Thats what got me on track!

Good luck.

Active sync was working then I got 85010017 error code.

Ran troubleshooter - said everything just fine.

I deleted active sync 4.1, deleted the source on my device (Singular 8125). downloaded and installed ActiveSync 4.2.

It connected, tried to sync for 5 minutes and then gave me 85010017 again. Yes I archived my outlook messages and all the stuff they recommended in FAQ!

Did the recent Outlook 2003 patches screw things up Anyone else with this problem

Have you looked into this page - http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/help/activesync/default.mspx

Also, since you've mentioned about the Outlook patch, was ActiveSync working before
