Due to a connection problem, changes you make might not be applied to other computers you use

Hi,

Due to a connection problem, changes you make might not be applied to other computers you use

I am getting this error in Live Messenger for last few days... As a result, my contact list is not appearing correctly and all the contacts are missing. Anyone having same issue

Thanks

Fahad

I am quite surprised that so many people having same issue... and yet there is no official solution available...

I am using MSN 7.5 for the time being... until we got some update on this issue from MS... cheers

Just to add another fun tidbit, I got this problem after changing workstations at work (yesterday/friday, I'm not sure when I installed Live Messenger). However, I'd been using live messenger for several weeks at home without a problem. Now, both encouter this same missing contacts/connection problem error.

The same thing is happening to me too. How do I switch back to version 7.5 while it all gets sorted

Pleased someone else is having this problem.

I emailed Microsoft about this and after deleting the cache their solution was for me to grant them access to my account. How will this solve things I explicitly said that my full contact list appears on other computers and with MSN Web Messenger.

    hmmm..

but my contacts are also unable to see me online... and my contact list also reduces and so many contact are missing... every time i sign out and signin, i see different number of contacts in my list.. quite weird...

good to hear.. I will try MSN 8 again today.. .. lets see... thanks for updating...

well.. i tried to fix this problem on MSN Live 8.0, but no solution available from anyone.. searching on net also invain... so i uninstalled MSN 8...

then i found MSN 7.5 on Microsoft site (rather than usual Messenger.MSN) at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx displaylang=en&FamilyID=0b88ccbf-4c52-4347-aa71-87184a13ac1c and installed... and all working properly ...

I think i will wait another few weeks before any update of MSN 8 available... and then i will install it again... cheers

Contacts are still intact... if u sign on using http://webmessenger.msn.com ... (nice interface i must say... mini old Windows Messenger type)... you can see all your cotnacts...

but obviously this Live Messenger problem should have some solution.... bcuz i am unable to do voice calls or web cams ...

  • AndrewAPlus

YES. Absolutely same problem you mentioned. MSN 8.0 will take minutes to sign-in and all my 100+ contacts have shrunk to just a mere 10 contacts available. The rest are all GONE! Every sign-in i performed sees a different number of contacts in my list as well.

What is happening I don't have a backup of all my contacts and i guess i will do it once MSN server is back. I hope they are still intact...

Because i have a feeling that after adding nicknames for couple of my contacts, when I signed out and sign in again, this problem starts...
