Hello,
I have just migrated to Windows Vista. Everything is working (for now :-) ), I only have some problems with cradling VS 2005 Pocket PC Device Emulator. (to be more specific, i would like to share Internet between my computer and my Virtual Pocket PC.)
I learned, that Active Sync was changed with Windows Mobile Device Center and that the WMDC should install via Windows Update (i run everything and checked in control panel, but WMDC was not there).
Next information I received was the following one:
|
Your Windows Mobile device must be connected to the computer for Windows Update to be able to detect the driver update and install the update. |
The problem is, that I don't have a physical device, I am only using the Device Emulator. (i tried to Cradle the Emulator and Run the update again, with no changes).
Thanks for your answer,
Igor.

In that case I am not sure, why I am not able to install Windows Mobile Device Center on my Windows Vista Business.
When I run drvupdate-x86.msi, an "unidentified program wants to access..." popup opens, where I allow the program to execute. I see the gathering information screen, and after the the program simply terminates. Without any messages, warnings, ....
Where could I check if Mobile Device Center is installed on my machine

i'm in the same boat with Vista Business.
WMDC beta3 does not seem to install properly;
it just exits without any dialog boxes or messages.
i've also migrated from VS2005 under XP;
now, i can't debug WM5 apps under Vista due to this new,
improved ActiveSync problems. it's really irritating that a huge
new release like Vista from a major corporation can't seem to
deliver all the goods at one time. something is always either
missing or broken.
and we're the developers!
how about the poor end users

Hi,
I use Windows Vista, Microsoft office 2007 and Microsot windows mobile device center beta 3 with my windows mobile 5.0 pocket pc. When ever I tried to sync the mobile pc I get the message that Microsoft office outlook profile is invalid and it prompts me to select a new name which is always the default name "outlook". In the last day, and today, the device center won’t work at all. I can uninstall it and reinstall it – its just crapped itself. Escuse the French. Just though you should know I much prefer activesync because it’s not blocked by Windows Live OneCare.
Kind Regards,
Kurt.

There was one issue found with Cradling with Device Emulator V1 and V2CTP which is fixed as part of Device Emulator V2 shipped with CE6.0. We are working on a Release to Web for the same but i don't have a schedule as of now with me. We'll keep posted for the same.
-Thanks,

Oh....thanks for this info. I forgot to mention that it was working for me with VS 2005 on WinXP and activesync 4.2 installed. It stopped working when i upgraded to Vista Enterprise edition and Since there is no activesync for Vista, I have tried downloading Windows Mobile DEvice center & Device Emulator 2.0 Preview but I don't get the same results. I think the problem is VS2005 unable to understand & cradle the PPC 2003 emulator device due to which the web service errors out.
Any suggestions

So maybe you can throw some more light on this. I downloaded and installed Device Emulator 2.0 Preview and I am able to now deploy the code to the PPC Emulator but when I try and invoke a web service from within the code, it gives me the error "No Network connection available". I have seen this error before which means that the PPC Emulator is unable to cradle. Part of reason I think is because WMDC is not working or I don't know how to run it/ invoke it using the PPC Emulator.
Can you please help
