Hello everybody,
I have been using Virtual Earth API for just a little while, but I have to say that they are great and very easy to use.
In my project I have some problems and I don't know how to work them out.
The first problem is the pop-up window that appear when you perform a search. I would like my search to go on the first result, without showing the others on the pop-up, but I can't find a method that allow me to control the window.
Is there a way to control it
The other problem is related to the search operation. Is it a problem of mine or Virtual Earth doesn't perform search operations on a specific address
I mean that you can search a city, but not in it. I try to search in this way: address, city, state; but without positive results. Is there another way
Thank you for any help.

Problem with pop-up and search

I got it. For the first problem it's okay, I think that the more the address that you provide is precise, the less you have the possibility to get the disambiguation box.
For the second problem I tried in many ways and I think that the search for address works well for addresses in the US, but not all around the world. For example, I try to search addresses in Italy, my country, and, if I stop at the zip code they are perfect, but if I put in the road, they mistake. Do you agree with me
Anyway, thanx a lot for the support. Bye!

As i am from italy, bolzano, i tried araound for a while.
this is one of the best address composition to find an exact address:
corso liberta 33, 39100 Bolzano BZ, italy
[street], [zip] [locality] [subadministrativ area], [country]
be aware of the commas and the whitespaces between [zip] [locality] [subadministrativ area].
for the country always provide the english name (italy) or the 2-letter code (it)
this helps me a lot to find the exact address, hope it also does for you ;-)

Hi Bobby-
The first problem is a known issue. There is no way to disable the "disambiguation box" that shows up, I'm afraid. I think people in other posts on this forum have suggested other ways to get the LatLong of a place first (using other Web services like MapPoint Web Service), and then change the map to that LatLong.
The second problem shouldn't be a problem--you can search for "1 Microsoft Way, Redmond, WA 98052" and get right down to the street address, for example. Make sure you are providing commas, and proper formatting.
Cheers,
Caleb
