This may not be the place, but I can not find help anywhere for my problem. The Live.Mail group referred me here. My problem is that when I open and select the 3d map, the 3d objects are represented by a blue silhouette and never fill in the object. I went through the acceleration settings, FAQs, etc. to no avail. I am running XP Pro, IE7, 3.2 GHz P4 CPU, 1 mb ram. When I originally installed VE, I had my default browser set to Firefox 2.0. I reset my browser to IE7, uninstalled and reinstalled VE. I saved it to disk, also ran it from the site all to no avail. During the original installation, I also installed Live Local for Outlook. This seems to be OK so I left it as is. I noticed the map was taking a minute to load ( I have 768 kbps DSL) so I left it alone hoping the objects would load but they did not..When installed correctly will the 3d promo still load in the left pane What may or may not be relevant, I have been getting error messages (prior to the VE install) when getting my Hotmail via Outlook Express. I still get the messages but it shows the check mail failed. Could this be a .NET problem Thanks for your response.

Woah. Sounds like you have a few things going on here.
1. Are you seeing this with a mashup, or just the http://maps.live.com web site If the latter, you need to post the question to the Feedback link on that page, so that they know what's going on and can hopefully help.
That being said...
2. You don't list above what your video card is. The 3D control automatically adjusts the quality of the 3d objects based on that, in part. If you have a low-end video card, you won't get the amazing textured buildings, etc.
3. I've never seen the "blue silhouettes" before; is this just with buildings, or everything, or what
4. As far as I can imagine, there is no relationship between the 3D control and checking Hotmail over Outlook Express.

I know what you mean, which is why I'm trying to provide some guidance here. Let us know if you solve the problem by installing the latest graphics drivers. I'll dig some more on my end to see if I can find anything else.

This forum is for developers who are building their own Web sites that use the VE control, which is why I asked where you were seeing the problem. Since you are seeing it in the maps.live.com commerical offering, I would strongly recommend you post the quesiton on the Feedback link (bottom right corner) on that page. As a test, go to http://dev.live.com/virtualearth/sdk and see if that page shows the same problem (it will, I'm sure).
Your video card should certainly be sufficient. How old are the drivers Have you updated them It has every indication of being a video card/driver problem. So I'd update the drivers from the Web, uninstall VE one more time, reboot, and reinstall.
Beyond that, I'm not sure what else to suggest, I'm afraid.

Thanks for your response. I submitted feedback (with my email address) prior to checking here. Unfortunately when trying to get any help by communicating with MicroSoft at any level for any problem at any time since I started using a computer in the mid eighties, I equate the experience to spitting in a volcano.
Thanks again for your help

Upgrading the drivers did the trick. I want to thank you for going off the path to help me. If only there were more like you.
Thanks

Thanks for the reply
I am not sure what you mean by mashup. If I open Virtual earth via program files, or link to maps.live via a link such as you provided, the results are the same.
My video card is Nvidia Geoforce FX 5200 When I installed VE the suggested 3D view setting was "Quality". I tried in the "Balance" mode and got the same thing. In the "Performance " mode of course the elevated features go away.
The silhouettes are buildings. Mountains seem to be OK
