I'm trying to install the .NET Framework 3.0 x64 bit and i keep on getting the following error :-

Can someone PLEASE HELP ME !!!!
I need to setup SharePoint 2007 on a x64 bit machine and the .NET Framework 3.0 is a prequisite !

What is happening is that that WIC component is not being installed. this could be due to several factors, one being that the dotnetfx3setup.exe is not being granted access to your hard drive.
One common approach to fix this is to download the redist packge (dotnetfx3_x64.exe) and install it.
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/ LinkId=70849 (found on http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/netframework/bb264589.aspx as the Download X64 version).
Please let me know what the result is after trying this route.

Windows Vista RTM ships with .NET Framework 3.0. RTM is available currently for MSDN subscribers/Microsoft partners and wont be launched until Jan 30th 2007 for end users.

I managed to come right with this. I had to take the box off the domain, install .NET Framework 3.0, reboot and put the box back onto the domain. Worked liked a charm.
