  Suffering from same problem at boot up and it is to say at least very irritating, but the good news is I have traced the little gremlin to NTL's BROADBAND MEDIC which is an internet diagnostic tool,I have uninstalled this and the error message has not since reappeared.As already mentioned in previous replies this is a programme which can also be known as Motive or Smartbridge and as it is part of my ISP's installation programme I have no alternative but to install it and then remove it as soon as possible because it causes all kinds of grief.

  I'll try again in the morning, but I think its popping up after I boot up. It just started coming up after I did the fix on the genune Mircosoft. And that problem might have been linked to a problem that was created not long after I got my computer and all my programs where in (almost 2 years ago), I made sure I had everything set up with all of my Gallery Programs, then I did a check point for system restore. About a month later, I get a windows update, ok thats fine, but the next day when I boot up, I get a pop up that says, "you have changed your operating system, and I have to uninstall Mcafee and reinstall to make it work right". I know I hadn't changed my operating system, but ok maybe the update might had changed something. So I uninstalled Mcafee and reinstalled. After that, whenever I tried to use the msn butterfly I would get a pop up, unicows.dll file missing and the butterfly took forever and my mail was locking up. I spent hours on phone and emails trying to fix. But uncows.dll file is imbedded in xp pro, and everything tried wasn't fixing it. They came and replaced my processor and that didn't work. I went on with my life using Internet explorer, till it said I didn't have a invalid copy of Microsoft windows ( I bought his computer from dell and Knew I had a valid copy), but the veirified I did and I did the fix and that took care of that. Now this.so I don't know, this is now popping up. The only other thing I that had been done way back was that we have a art gallery and I installed a shopping cart program and it didn't work right and their was some suggestion to download some other microsoft programs. something net I can't remember but I never got the shopping cart to work right so I uninstalled that. I just wanted to give you a full picture. I do have a art gallery and my web site is on a private server, but I do work with Images.

  Ok, first of all, I'm not sure this is the right forum. So, if it isn't, I'd appreciate you telling me which one is.

  Now, to the problem. I just downloaded Internet Explorer 7.0 (yay!). But, whenever I click any of the usual toolbars (like File, Edit, View, etc.) or click any of the new toolbars (on the right side of the screen the down arrow next to the house, the down arrow next to Page, etc.) I keep getting the following message:

  McAfee AutoUpdate: UpdaterUI.exe – Entry Point Not Found

  The procedure entry point GetProssImageFileNameW could not be located in the dynamic link library PSAPI.DLL

  I’ve tried doing a bunch of stuff, like renaming a couple of .dll files (I did a search though, and it said I had a little over 5,000 .dll files so I stopped). I also tried reinstalling the Internet Explorer and putting IE 7 in a folder named $NtUninstallie7beta2$ (though I wasn’t sure if that solution applied to me). Although I love the new Internet Explorer, I’m extremely frustrated with this pop-up error message. So please, if anyone can help me, I’d greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

  I got this same error after installing IE7 BETA, so I did a search of C:\ and found 7 results, 4 in Windows folder and 3 in C:\Program

  Files. The psapi.dll files in C:\Program Files were an earlier version (4.0) than the files in C:\Windows\System32 (5.1). So I Copy/

  Paste the newer version over the old. No more error!

  This is what my computer came up with about 10 items, I tried to copy and paist but I couldn't. So should I rename all of them taking away the .dll and replace with old. All modified Dates are before 2004.

  The top bar of the error message said Smart bridge Alerts:motivee sb.exe Entry point not found

  April, SmartBridge is known to cause this problem. I would rename the copies of PSAPI.DLL in both the Verizon online help as well as SmartBridge. The only one that you should be using is under the Windows\System32 directory. I see other copies, but I don't think they're being loaded.

  Hi to all at this blog. Thanks to your recommendations, I have been able to resolve the ASPI.DLL issue, which appeared upon installing IE7 Release Candidate 2. I am also on Verizon DSL, and simply changed the file extensions in Verizon... Help Support\Smartbridge, and Verizon... Help Support\bin, from .dll to .old. Worked like a charm. Thanks to all!!   In other words, does psapi.dll is part of Windows 2K/XP installation

  You probably have two versions of PSAPI.DLL, one of which came installed with some other software. I would check out that weblink I gave you and see if that leads you to the solution.

  This is what one of the guys wrote me,

  I got about 10@ different ones that came up, what they had me to is go under start, find, and type in psapi.dll, One guy told me to change all the dll's and rename to old but that worried me a bit, because one was a system file.

  So the other guy told me to delete all but the windows\system 32 one.

  And that worked. Or you could change the name on all but the windows\system file 32, and see how your computer reacts, because you can always go back and rename again, then it that works then you can delete.

  I get the feeling that you are not a software developer using Visual Studio... Can you give us the steps you're using that gives you this error   i.e. What kind of application are you trying to run
