I did as you suggested with about 4 files in BTHelp and it work.

Opened Help program and I have the facility for asking questions.

    Thank you so much.

By the way what does an underline at the end of a file extention achieve

In my Windows\system32 the version of PSAPI.DLL is 5.1.2600.2180

In my BroadbandHelp the version is 4.0.1371.1

    Any clues here

The question was: How do I deal with the following error message.

SMARTBRIDGE ALERT: BTHELPNOTIFIER.EXE ENTRY POINT NOT FOUND.

The procedure entry point GetProcessImageFileName W could not be located in dynamic link library

    PSAPI.DLL

Actually I stumbled over that original post and already asked there for your version of psapi.dll. According to the other thread you are running that on WinXP SP2, correct

In the directory where BTHelpNotifier.exe is located, is there also a psapi.dll If yes, compare that version to c:\windows\system32\psapi.dll (look on the drive where you installed windows on, if that is not C:)

According to the MSDN documentation the above mentioned entry point should be available with XP.

    BTW = by the way.

What do you mean by "changed the following files" and then list some directories Did you find psapi.dll in all those directories and renamed it in all directories Or did you copy the old psapi.dll into all those directories

With "Document\Settings" you mean "C:\Documents And Settings", right There should not be any exe or dll files in there anyway, are there

Thanks Sarah. Damian has suggested that I put the question in a MSDN forum. I am new for forums

and any advice you have would be helpful.

  • DazlerD

You question will be rolled to back on new posts to the forum. So it would be hard to track your question

Please provide the link to your question or post it again.

You can see your posts from "My Threads" like at top right of the page

  • Machie

Is this the other forum you post to Then you question is missing

You could try to search with Windows Explorer all your local harddrives. Press F3 in Windows Explorer and search for the file psapi.dll

If you can ensure that you have only one version of that file on your system it might also help the support of BT to track this down.

    I changed the following files:

    C:\ProgamFiles\BTBroadbandDesktopHelp\Smartbridge

    C:\ProgramFiles\BTBroadbandDesktophelp\classis\bin

    C:\ProgramFiles\BTBroadbandDesktophelt\de\jsharp\bin

    C:\ProgramFiles\Motive\Common

I didn't touch any of the files in Document\Settings

    What does BTW stand for

  • LotusExigeS1

    Thanks for your response.

I was unable to open BTHelpNotifier.exe and examine PSIPA.DLL.  I have the file in Windows.  The problem would appear to be with

the BT software and I will contact them.  What do you think

  • harvard_isaac

The underscore just changes the name so that the dll loader doesn't find that version of psapi.dll and continues to search the other directories in the search path for dlls - which system32 is one of.

You could have named it to almost everything - just wanted to be sure that you come off with a valid file name. The underscore is quite handy as it has little impact on reading the filename, so you as a human being can easily spot that it is the old psapi.dll but for your computer it is a totally different name which does not match psapi.dll anymore.

BTW: you didn't put the psapi.dll there, did you If not BT should provide a fix for their setup. It should not copy psapi.dll if the system already has a newer one. The problem here is that the local directory has higher priority in the dll search order so that system32\psapi.dll is not taken into account.

Ah - you have two versions: rename the 4.x version to psapi.dll_ and restart the BT software.
