Free Online Visual Basic 2005 book

I have recently made my book free, sponsored by AdSense of course.

The book is designed for non-programmers.

After many hours of tweaking javascript I have finally completed most of the design of the page, so that it works with google and also so that there are no frames.

If anyone would like to help with the book, ie: make it better, then feel free to contact me here or at the site.

You can find the book link in my signature...

First things first, I am thinking of going through it and replacing the code with properly highlighted code.

Also, perhaps it could be Introduction to Programming with Microsoft.Net 2 and cover C# too

Anyone think this is a good idea

  • Eddie Garcia

I think you should keep it VB and C# only.

Yeah errr no. Not yet. I still have to redo all the code snippets in propery colour codes and add C# code. It will be a while.

I'm also still 50/50 on doing the pdf thing. Google adsense is sponsoring it you know...

What does everyone think of this I could sell pdf versions, but then who would buy it

Well, I suppose you could print it

  • crazyabtdotnet

I am thinking of using DP Syntax Highlighter (http://www.dreamprojections.com/syntaxhighlighter/Usage.aspx) for highlighting the code, and also adding C# to it. Perhaps even C++

I would need some help with this though, as I'm not really that great in those two languages. If anyone wants to help out.. andrew (dot) vos (aat) gmail dot com...

Does anyone know a more suitable syntax highlighter

Any chances to get a pdf out of it

  • MarcoViY

C# and C++ are fairly similar, so there isn't really much point in putting both in the book.

BTW, what's going on with your site Half the links are broken, and JimmyWidgets is offline! Fix it now, boi!

  • Tehkaal

I think that you should also put C# into your book, just below the VB code, like MSDN, so you have a quick view of the code in both language. This will make your book more complete for anyone beginning programming (As they could choose their preferred language).

Hmm. Perhaps. I'll think about it! It would be quite something converting it!

Good point. I will keep it C# and vb only. "Introduction to Programming with Microsoft.Net Framework 2"

Sorry about the site. I am moving over to a better web host, because of the 6hour database offline "thing" a few days ago! Also, it was my girlfriends 21st yesterday! So you can imagine ;) Anyway. Don't ever pay Netfirms for anything. That's just my opinion though.

I just need to somehow get Smx forums working again, because they are the only real important ones. You're second on the list ;)

EDIT: Jimmywidgets is located at http://sites.wickedorange.com/jimmywidgets The forum will be up in a couple minutes.
