I understand that IE7 allows a new tab opened to either be blank or the same as your current home page by setting the registry value for UseHomepageForNewTab to 1. Anyone have a way to by pass the defaults and open an alternate page not blank and not my home. Ideally i would want my homepage and the new tab to be a search engine page.

This is a web development forum, so are you asking how to do something like this in HTML Or is this a general IE question
What do you mean by "pass the defaults" The only choices you have (Without an IE extension) are about:blank or your first homepage. Note that opening a new tab to the search engine might be redundant, since there's a nice search box at the top right that you can have open new tabs to results pages from the search engine of your choice.
