Java Applets don't work

After installing IE7, I cannot get java applets to display on any web pages - instead this message appears:

alt="Your browser understands the <APPLET> tag but isn't running the applet, for some reason." Your browser is completely ignoring the <APPLET> tag!

I've checked in the IE7 advanced options to make sure Sun Java option is checked, I've checked that scritpting of java applets is enabled in the IE7security menu, I've re-installed java, I've checked the Java console is set to for IE applet tag support in advanced options, all with no improvement.

Any suggestions -thanks

    Hi Andrew,

Use the Manage Add-ons dialog to review the add-ons installed on the PC and verify that a) you have the latest version and b) you know what each one is and why it's enabled. If you don't recognize some, then it may be worth your while to remove them.

It appears that Yahoo uses Flash to play some of its movies, so you might start verifying that you have the latest version available.

    Hope this helps...

Good news -- Applets are now working in IE7. First, I also tried installing the MSJVM for xp- install went ok, but still no applets worked. Finally, I noticed the "manage add-ons" tab (either directly in tools-better, or indirectly at internet tools>programs) When I first installed IE7, I remember seeing no add-ons in the list, now there's lots, including a Sun Java console option . After it was enabled, applets work fine. If it's disabled, applets stop working. The enable refers to browser extension npjpi150_09.dll.
