IE7 Forms Auto Complete Stopped Working

I’ve deleted by mistake the registry key:

Software/Microsoft/Internet Explorer/IntelliForms/Storage1

As a result, IE7 Auto-Complete stopped working.

I tried to fix the problem by recreate the deleted keys under IntelliForms:

Create new Key: Storage1

Create new empty Value: C6FB044EC2BD401521D6B1082276415638196D8004

It didn’t work for me.

How can cause IE7 to renew the Auto-Complete mechanism

I had the exact same problem with passwords and user-names refusing to be remembered by the IE7 supplied with Vista.

The only solution I found was to creat a new Account and copy the account settings over from old to new.

    Something like this:-

Firstly. create a new account under Control Panel, User Accounts - give it administrator rights. Log on in the new account.

    • On the desktop, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.

    • Click Advanced System Settings in the left-hand pane

    • Click User Profiles - Settings

    • Select the OLD User and click Copy to

    • In the Copy To dialog box, click Browse. Browse to the root location of the new user account that you created. (i.e. where all your documents, downloads etc would be located)

    • Click OK.

    • It took about 10mins to copy over my account and it did NOT copy my email account info' to Outlook 2007
    • When all was done it started to prompt me again in IE7 for passwords etc AND remembered them!

I don't think you need to re-create the key. I tried to delete the same key. And when I disabled and then re-enabled the autocomplete in Internet Options, AutoComplete came back.

That was my ultimate solution, too. Now, all is OK.

Interestingly, I also noticed that Outlook wouldn't work properly when I was having this problem with IE autocomplete. Outlook was apparently unable to manage the password for the IMAP connection to my mail server, so it kept re-prompting me for the username and password. A network trace showed that each time it was trying to log into the IMAP server using an empty password, even though I kept typing one in to the prompt dialog.

I'm also having a problem where IE7 suddenly acts as if no auto-complete items have been saved, and creating new ones seems to have no effect; I am always being prompted for the same entries at the same sites.

I have verified the settings in IE7 and verified that Protected Storage service is running.

Are there any other steps I can take
