IE 7 - scrolling jumps

Is there a default setting I can change in IE7 that will stop the jumping when I try to scroll using a mouse wheel It's almost as bad as what I see when I'm connected remotely to another machine.

Thanks for the reply. I found a solution from a google forum that solved the problem for me:

Start. Control Panel. Mouse. Choose the Buttons tab. For "Scroller", set to the following: Check the box labeled "Use MS Office compatible scroll only." Also, check the box labeled "Scroll in active window only."

Works fine after making those changes.

I phoned Microsoft and they said that the IE7 version (not beta) will be available on the 18th of this month - this Wednesday. I went back to IE6 until then. They said all the bugs should be worked out by then for the new version. Also she said to reinstall the software for your mouse and see if that helps. Hope this helps. I think I will wait a few months before installing IE7 to make sure all the bugs are out.

I have just uninstalled my logitech mouse software, and letting XP take care of the mouse.

Great news no more scrolling jumps, fingers crossed it stays like this!

This was not an issue with IE6, only started with IE7 RC1.

My mouse is about 4 years old, maybe later logitech drivers dont have this problem, but I might as well still with the MS ones while it appears to be working now.

I have a logitech cordless mouse and keyboard and having the same problem. Did you just unistall the driver or uninstall the Logitech software

Same problem here and it is driving me looney too. I checked the control panel and set the scroll wheel to one line per click and this has had no change. Basically for me, one click equals 5 slow scrolls on the IE7 screen. I am not having this problem with any other application and did not see this in IE6. I am ready to go back to IE 6 just because of this problem.

You shoudln't be seeing a severe jump in scrolling with IE7. Does this happen on all pages

I have just uninstalled IE7 RC1 and installed the release IE7, the scrolling problem still exists, it drives me crazy!

I uninstalled the logitech software and driver for the mouse and now using the XP driver.

If you know your model of mouse you could try updating the driver from logitech, they have them to download on their website.

The XP driver works for me, I'm not looking for an additional features from the mouse at the moment and you still can adjust settings via the control panel.

Same problem here. But it isn't so much that the scrolling lags as it is that the scrolling continues after it should have stopped. It's not a delay like one would experience in PcAnywhere or VNC.

I don't experience this problem in any menus or applications other than when scrolling webpages in IE7.

Same prob with last RC version of IE and today's release. Uninstalled the logitech drivers, scrolling was much improved. reinstalled the latest logitech drivers, scrolling is still acceptable.

now the scroll effect is responsive to the wheel, and stops immediately after wheel stops scrolling, versus the previously lagging scroll that lurched up and down the page, and would continue on for many seconds after I stopped scrolling.

seems unfortunate to have to go through uninstalling and reinstalling drivers. it is more unfortunate that we all had to hit the newsgroups in order to track down this "fix". would have been nice to put a "heads up" for logitech owners as a part of the install.

Well, I guess I won't be downloading the new release because I can't stand the scrolling either. Have you tried reinstalling your mouse software and see if that solves the problem Thanks for letting me know that it's still doing it.
