IE 7 opening to Run Once page with error on it.

I downloaded updates last week. I have been using IE7 for a while with no problem. I dwnloaded the updates. Now when I open my browser the page tries to go to http://runonce.msn.com/runonce2.aspx. There is an error reported for this page and it will not open up I get a blue screen. How do I eliminate this I have my home page set in the tools section but when opening it won't go to my home page until I hit the home button on the tool bar.

Hello i had the same problem but i do know the answer on how to fix it

you will not need to reinstall anything,

go to start then click run, in the box type gpedit.msc

once this is open you should find a window comes up with a menu down the left hand side,

click the USER CONFIGURATION little + , then WINDOWS COMPONENTS again the little +

then click on INTERNET EXPLORER and look for the setting called "Prevent performance of first run customize settings"

double click this, then click the enabled button, after click the down arrow in the box below and choose the option which says

"go directly to IE page" then click apply then ok

there you go this should now be fixed

What error is reported for the page Is there a script error Also, could you run Internet Explorer (No Add-ons) from Start->All Programs->Accessories->System Tools and see if the runonce page opens fine

I tried the solution I typed in gpedit.msc and the run box and windows error appeared that said that windows could not fine the file. I searched for the file and it was not located either.

This page is really "run once". However you don't have a chance to finsih. That's why it keeps apearing. Base on my testing, this problem should only happen to IE7 beta. It is fine on IE7 RTM.

No I have not tried another user. I can and then I will download it again and reinstall it. Thanks.

I tried running IE7 with out add-ons. The run once page did not come up to open at all. The browser did not go to anything except a page that said that the add-ons were disabled.

This problem took me about 22 hours to finally fix.  :)   Though the user(administrator) I installed IE7 with worked fine first time and every other time after that it was all the other xp users that suffered with this script problem.

    1) Uninstall IE7 and reboot.

    2) Start/Run regsvr32 msxm13.dll

    3) reboot

    4) uninstall'd spybot-sd and turn avg anti-virus resident shield off!

    5) Turn windows firewall on and zone alarm (or what ever your firewall software may be) off for the duration of the install (zonealarm seems to block access to certain IE registry keys for different users so this is important)   I turned zonealarm on and windows firewall off after step 6)

    6) Now reinstall the browser in your main admin account and reboot.

If this still doesnt work try running IE7 with no add ons from system tools menu.

Hope This helps some of you at least.

So what do you recommend I do Uninstall IE7 from my computer and download another version as I originally got the beta version. Then turn of my security center and install it.
