IE7 does not display asp.net based Application properly

An application that we use written in asp.net using Microsoft's own Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2005 Express Edition does not work in IE7.

Instead, the menus and scroll bars are on top of each other or only partially display on the screen and you cannot click checkboxes etc.

Can anyone give me an idea of where to start to fix this It runs fine on all IE6 and Firefox versions we run elsewhere.
