Hello,
Downloaded and installed: IE7-WindowsXP-x86-enu.exe
OS: Windows XP Home (legal version)
I had IE6 with SP2.
I downloaded at first the IE7 RC1 but then I downloaded the file I mentionned above.
With both RC1 and IE7-WindowsXP-x86-enu version I got the weird Chinese titles in my Blue Titlebar.
The tab-titles tho are correct.
I've uploaded a screenshot to be downloaded here. This screenshot gives you the view of my IE7 browser with the blue titlebar.
My Language is Dutch and at the Tools - Internet Options - General tab I've set my appearance language at Dutch (screenshot here).
Could somebody please help me out I really really love to have my own language or the english titlebar instead of Chinese.
Yours Sincerely

IE7 Title bar shows up in Chinese instead of my language

Go to this site to stop the run once program, it worked for me. I am still trying to find how to get rid of the chinese writing.

I recently purchased a Gateway computer after my previous computer died and I began reinstalling all of my software. In the process I was prompted to install IE 7. Shortly after I started using it, I began experiencing Chinese in the title bar.
I was unable to find anything about this problem on the Internet with the exception of this group discussion.
This morning I uninstalled TurboPasswords, which is an application that works with your browser to store passwords. Today I was shutting down my computer and I got an error message relating to TurboPasswords and decided to uninstall it because I never use it anyway.
After rebooting, the Chinese title bar is no longer!!
This may indicate that applications that work with the browser may be at fault.
Hope that helps.

Here's the response from the TurboPasswords vendor:

Your symtoms are exactly like mine. This ticks me off. I have also deleted and reinstalled it and it installs the same way each time.

OMG, I did it. I figured out how to fix this ANNOYING Chinese in the title bar problem. I have been having this same problem ever since I built my new computer and put IE7 on. But today, after just messing around I figured it out.
It's actually really simple. Go to Tools/Internet options and click on the Advanced tab. then at the bottom it should have a button that says reset. Take head of the warning. It will take you back down to bare bones, non updated IE7. (allthough your favorites will stay intact though, so dont worry about that) You will have to update your IE7 if you so choose, and reinstall any toolbars ie. google toolbar, and change all of your settings back the way you want them. Im not sure about plug-ins yet though.
But thats it. Hit that button. Close IE, and reopen it. It will ask you all the stupid questions it asked you when you first installed IE7 and will want you to update, but thats it. So far I havent had any problems with the title bar, the tabs, or anything else since I did this. So Allert the Internets. I am a genious. WOO HOO!
Good luck to you all, and I hope this helps.
I hope I go down in the record books for fixing yet another sh**ty microsoft product.

I can't help with a permanent fix, but I've found if you open a second (or more) tab, then close the original tab which opened with IE, you will get the correct display in the title bar.
I originally saw this problem with Acrobat Reader on my system, but IE6 was OK. I only saw it with IE when I installed 7.
Looking at other forums, it seems that quite a few people are experiencing this issue, but no one has come up with a permanent fix.

yes you are right, when I close my first opened window (if I got more tabs opened) then the title shows correctly..
someone told me he had the same problem, uninstalled the IE7 and deleted the map 'ie7' in the 'WINDOWS' map. This didn't help for me!
tho I still get the blue page with no options to set, you know, the first run page.
