Does anyone know if/when ADM files will be released for WDS 3 to manage through GPO I currently have the 2.6 ADM files but the settings don't work on the new version.
The reason I'm testing version 3 is because the 2.6.5 version I tested, gave read-only errors when trying to save files on network shares. Version 3 works great but I can't control it so I'm a little concerned letting too many people use it.
Do you have any other search suggestions for the enterprise We currently have 40,000 Word documents we would like to be able to search. I was planning on just installing WDS for the few users that really need the search ability.
Looks like we're looking for similar answers. I was able to figure out how to add an enterprise search to the search results page but cannot find a way to add an intranet search button to the initial search screen (this might still be possible through programming). What this means is I have to first bring up the search results page, then type in my search and click on the "All Locations" drop down, to which I have added multiple SharePoint search locations (you could add any web search here.)
Going off on a slight tangent - what do you need to do to make something work with group policy Is it just a case of getting your parameters from the registry and not caching them so that GP can update them at any time (And providing templates to allow nice editing of these registry settings, too)
I'm no longer with Microsoft so I can't say. I am, however, going to move this thread to the developer forum because 1. it's enterprise related and 2. it will get more attention there. Be assured that, as of the time I left MSFT was doing everything they could to get WDS 3.x enterprise ready. WDS running as a service w/ enterprise support is going to be a killer app.
Microsoft currently is not supporting group policies with 3.0. We are working on adding group policy support in the near future. In the mean time, we are suggesting that our enterprise customers continue using WDS 2.6.5 as that will better meet your needs.

Thanks for the reply. I was afraid of that.

Here's a link, hope it helps:

Hopefully the enterprise search capabilities are added back in soon.
