.NET Web Browser Effort - First Preview!

Hi Guys,

A couple of months ago I started an opensource effort to create a Web Browser better than IE7 in .NET. So far its going GREAT, with a team of 3 including me.

As of now, source code is not offered - it will be once I get it to a Beta 2 state.

Also, if anyone would like to join the project please send an email to netwebbrowser@gmail.com

or add mateuszrajca@msn.com to your MSN/Live Messenger contacts list(email is preferred)

Here are some stuff you can help in: Write code(C#), fix bugs in code(C#), make sourcefourge web site, report bugs, optimize code(C#), make app more responsive, make installer, graphics (icons logos) and whatever else you can come up with!

Great job on this application. I once made a similar venture in Visual Basic, but that was my first program, and I coded it during the first week I ever programmed in anything, so it sucked.

    Here is my webbrowser

I don't realistically believe you can beat IE7, but its a good program....

I think he's just using the webbrowser control.

What makes you say I cant beat IE7

    1. MSFT's market cap of over $200B

    2. IE's large development team

    3. IE's years of maturation and development

I'm sure you can create an effective web browser, maybe even one with unique or outstanding features, but you and 3 other people, no matter how dedicated, are going to find it nearly, if not completely, impossible to "beat" IE7 on all, or even a majority, of its functionality.

He said he's not very experienced. We all have to start somewhere

Completely agreed. Although a valiant effort, only the most stout-hearted would try to beat an international software benchmark with a small team! You've also got to remember that for every honest developer there's at least two who would work to exploit vulnerabilities in your browser if it hit the mainstream.

Out of interest, are you rendering the html content using your own custom class

I believe he's trying to make a better browser in terms of features like RSS reading and things like that instead of the actual browsing.

if so, that would make me cry.

Would it be possible to make it a .zip archive I dont really think there's a point in downloading a trial of WinRar just to download one Application.
