I downloaded and installed the latest version of Windows Desktop Search. I
had the Beta version before. It is a great tool!
Here's my problem: when I had the Beta version I was able to search my
computer's hard drive plus all network drives I have access to. Now I can
only search my computer's hard dirive. I checked the "email and all hard
disks" in the Desktop Search options and then selected "Index Now." Still I
can only search my personal computer and not the network drives where I store
virtually evrything.
Anyone know what I need to do to be able to search the network drives again
How come there is no "help" in the Widows Desktop Search" toolbar. Quite a
problem.

Unable to search mapped network drives like I could with Beta version
maverick_majnoo
The mapped drives in MY COMPUTER do not show up as options for checking to be indexed. Only the C drive shows up. How can I get to the options to check them if they do not get populated in the original options Not being able to index my mapped drive makes the desktop search almost useless. I just installed MS Office 2007 so this is all new to me. It seems to be a simplified version of what you are describing and I cannot even find the properties description to know what version is in use.

Does anyone know if MS is planning to make enhancements to make WDS easier to use Unless you have memorized the "tips" it is not a user friendly tool. Here is the website for the "tips:"

paulo,
WDS is not indexing network drives when you have Index email and all hard drives, because that setting only recognizes local hard drives (drives on your machine)You can index network drives by doing the following:
Right click on the WDS icon (magnifying glass) in the system tray.
Select Desktop Search Options.
Click on Indexing in the nav bar and then select Custom folders and email locations.
Click Browse and then place check marks next to the drives you want to index.
As for help, you can find it by right clicking on the magnifying glass and selecting Help:Desktop Search Help
I hope this helps,

Follow the steps:
1. Open control panel.
2. Go to add remove programs
3. Look for Windows Desktop Search
4. Select this entry
5. Click on "Click here for support information"
A dialog box will pop up which will give you version number.
