Hey there. I'm trying to configure the WDS Group Policy Administrative Templates and I'd like to get input on the network throttling option "Gain on Update." According to documentation, "Enabling this policy controls the effect of the indexer on the network bandwidth. Select preferred Gain count number in increments of 1. This count represents the number of items to index per minute. Enable this policy if the files to be indexed reside on the network and network bandwidth is low."
My question is: what exactly is the norm Should I just index 1 document per minute or 5 However, if the normal amount is something like 50 documents per minute then I could up my quantity to 25 and still be conserving bandwidth.
Many thanks for reading and any guidance is appreciated. I've Googled and Lived this but I've found nothing in terms of what the normal amount is.

Gain on Update

Hi,
Any news yet I waited for the 3.01 admin guide thinking this MUST include the group policy features but no..
Thanks,
Joe

Hi,
I'm in the exact same position. We have many satellite locations where I do not want to release WDS without some control on either what network locations are indexed or controlling the amount of bandwidth that is used for indexing.
Surely someone at MS has some information on "gain on update" Or an updated administration guide that explains the settings in the latest release of the software....
Many Thanks,
Joe
