I have been searching for some guidance on how to use areas and iterations, how WIs tie into a particular area etc. I haven't been able to find ANYTHING that gives a decent explanation of these topics.
About the MSF guidance; I'm not sure if it's just me or do other people also find this to be too high level to be of any real use
The closest I came was this post by Eric Lee:

Can anyone point me to some articles/posts that shed more light on these features
Thanks!

Understanding areas and iterations

A lot of people have difficulty understanding areas at first. If no one else has a ready made blog entry on it that is in the vein of better practices / prescriptive I'll write one up. Seems one must already exist... let me search my rss feeds from the beginning of time. :-)
A quick description from Bryan MacFarlane (MSFT) sums it up pretty well

Got it. Thanks for the nice comments on the earlier whitepaper stuff (and I didn't even complete it fully there is a few more scenarios I'd like to cover in the SCM whitepaper). I'll try to get to your request this weekend. Anyone else out there that has content and would like to contribute give me a ping.

If you have the time to post an article it would be great. I found your article on branching especially helpful when we were considering branching strategies.
I like Eric's Explorer-like view of areas. What I'd like to see is more details on how areas and iterations tie into a product lifecyle, not just for one version release, but multiple versions. The how WIs are managed per product within a Team Project etc.
Do post here and let us know!
