Test Manager Window not available VSTE for Software Developers?
I have installed the release version of Visual Studio Team Edition for Software Developers and can no longer find the Test Manager Window menu item. I see Tests View, Test Results, etc. Is this a feature that is not included in this version
Well that's dissapointing! Especially for those of us who don't have a full-blown testing group but would still like to have some more permanent organization structure for our tests
Releasing the full blown Team Suite as the only beta was pretty misleading in terms of what each of the sub-groups were going to have on release :
From the Online Help, the "Run Tests" button (and Code Coverage Results window ) is only available in Test Manager. Do you mean that I cannot obtain Code Coverage for my unit tests with the VSTE for Software Developers version If not, how can I run the test with the defined *.testrunconfig and obtain the code coverage result Please provide steps in detailed.
Wouldn't it have made more sense to make this a right that can be assigned to Team Foundation groups. I would think Project Administrators should have this right.
This is waaaay off a practical usage. As others have noted, you are neglecting all companies which don't have dedicated Testers. I should note that the developer creating all the unit-tests should be the one to know best which tests to include in which test lists. It's a pitty MS has gone this route without notice. Furthermore even in the comparation charts on the VS-Site there's no hint. Thus we have now rolled-out the VS2005 to all dev-workstations just to find that the chosen edition does not deliver what "appears" to be promised.
Maybe someone at MS can persuade the PM to release a patch to RE-add this feature to VS2005 DEVELOPER Edition. It would be of great service to the paying customers. We cannot afford to install TEAM-SUITE (which comes cheaper than DEV+TEST Editions) for every developer, just for that feature...
The Test Manager window is only available in Visual Studio Team Edition for Software Testers. The Test View window, available in both VSTE for Software Developers and for Software Testers, supports grouping and filtering by test properties such as Project, Owner etc.
Earlier today Ekobit (www.ekobit.com) released “Test Manager Add-Infor Visual Studio Team Edition for Software Developers”. This Add-In makes it possible for developers to manage the lists of tests, build hierarchies and execute tests from the Team Edition for Software Developers just the way they would be able to do using the Test Manager window if they had Team Suite. Being a VSIP package, Test Manager Add-In is seamlessly integrated in the Visual Studio environment and works as a part of the Visual Studio Team System integrated testing framework.

[Update] I think I found a way to run test from Test View window and am now in a process of converting NUnit project to VSTS test project. Thanks!
