Hi There
I have created a new DB project.
All i want to do now is add a couple of tables to the project from an existing database.
I cannot find a way to do this All the help files mention is importing an existing DB schema , i do not want to import the whole schema as it is really huge , i simply want to add a few tables etc, but cannot find a way to do it
I am having the same problem with compares, all i want to do is compare 2 tables in one database to the same tables in another database but it seems my only choice is to do a full compare between the databases, as mentioned their schema are huge all i want to do is 1 or 2 objects not the whole database, is this not possible
Thanx

Add objects to project ?

Unfortunately, I don't think you can do this at present. Our Import Database Schema doesn't allow you to import only a portion of the database. In CTP4, support for comparing a database to a project and updating the project is not yet implemented. It's planned, but I don't believe the current plan allows you to select tables to be compared, it only allows you to compare the full database, then select which updates are written to the target.
I'll pass the feedback along to the rest of the team.

Please can this feature be seriously considered ! It is the same issue i have with similar software i have tried from redgate etc, seems everyone is under the impression that one would want to do an entire schema of a DB, they do not seem to consider that many of use are working on SAP, Peoplesoft or other DB's that have tens of thousands of objects, and the few custom objects we create within these DB's are what we want this product for BUT it is a serious pain in the @$$ having always do ane entire DB compare or import, for example i tried to import the schema of of one of our Peoplesoft databases yesterday, i only wanted to work with 12 tables that we have customized within it for a webservcie, but i could not add individual objects to the project. After half an hour i gave up as is was still trying to import the entire DB schema, i had similar issues with red gate software, seems the impression is also that everyone's databases have a few hundred tables , some views and sp's. I mostly work with DB in Peoplesoft and SAP that contain tens of thousands of each of these object types and then products like this one dont help me because they always want to compare or import the entire DB. PLEASE PLEASE CAN IT JUST BE MADE POSSIBLE TO SELECT THE INDIVIDUAL OBJECTS ONE WanTS TO COMPAREOR WORK WITH, instead of the entire DB as with all other products, this is something i have been looking for , for a long time , i thought when i heard about VSDB i thought finally, but i see this is still the same as other products out there.
Thanx
