Public LINQ Chat with the C# Team (12/12/2006)

Please join us for an hour long public chat on LINQ to SQL and related technologies to be held Tuesday, Dec 12 at 1 PM Pacific time. Follow this link to see your local time for this chat. LINQ is a set of extensions to the .NET Framework that provides native C# language support for querying data. LINQ to SQL is a component of LINQ which allows access to data stored in relational databases. The C# team is actively designing and developing this technology; show up and join the LINQ to SQL team to participate in that process or just to get a better understanding of the technology! I posted a notice about the chat on my forum back in November. So, you might want to keep an eye on it. I am trying to keep it up to date on the latest LINQ events.

How does the "C# Team" who is "actively designing and developing this technology" interact with the ADO.NET vNext team who are working on LINQ to Entities, which use the LINQ technology that, to the casual observer, overlaps considerably with LINQ to SQL

I've got a blog entry where I cover the difference between LINQ to SQL and LINQ to Entities, but I think it might be worth covering what LINQ to SQL does not do up front before the chat starts so you don't have to field 200 questions from people asking for the difference between the two and you can focus on what LINQ to SQL is and how it works.

    Just my 2 cents :)

This chat is a "public chat on LINQ to SQL," not on LINQ to Entities. Technologies related to LINQ to SQL, such as lambdas, extension methods, etc, will also be covered.

As you suggest, I think being prepared to answer questions about the differences between the two technologies would be a good idea.
