Greetings,
When and where will the MechCommander 2 Shared Source Release be available
Thanks,
j_ames2006
Thanks a bunch. I'd imagine I'm one of the early birds and I'm getting it at 850KB sec (my cable line max).
I appreciate your efforts and look forward to getting down to work and play shortly.
Thanks again.

Hi David,
You are correct again, it looks like you've been looking through the source pretty closely. :-)
We wanted to keep multiplayer support in there but any time you release source code like this you have to send it through security reviews. The cost of security reviewing the multiplayer code was very high, and in addition to being outside of our budget for this sort of thing it was also outside of the scope for what we needed in order to demonstrate MechCommander 2 being built with XNA Build. In the end, not many people used the multiplayer functionality in MechCommander 2 when it was originally released so we determined it probably wasn't worth the security review costs.
You are, of course, free to implement and distribute your own multiplayer support as an add-on if you wish.

Thanks for your patience, I think we're good to go now.
Please see http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/ linkid=63428&clcid=0x409. That page is still propping out to all of our servers at the time of my post so if it doesn't work the first try, just keep trying. After a few tries you should hit one of the live servers.
Note that this is a very large download (~1 GB) - it's a good idea to save it locally before you run it. You will need approximately 4.5 GB free on your machine during installation - but after installation you can delete the original .EXE you saved and the folder it extracts the .MSI into, so in the end you'll only need about 2.5 GB to work with MechCommander 2.
Have fun playing with XNA Build (and MechCommander 2, of course!). Let us know if you enounter any issues.

Hi David -
You're right, the link is currently broken. I'm sorry for the problem - we are currently having an issue propping the file to our download center because it's such a large download. We are still plugging away at it and as soon as I have a resolution for you I will post it here sometime later today.
Thanks for your patience -

Hello,
I'm several months late in joining theis party, but I have recently pulled the XNA Sources and wanted to pull the MC2 source as well, but none of the links above are working now Is there an alternate location where I can pull this file now
Thanks.

Pasted below.
Unfortunately I'm not a lawyer so I can't provide any interpretation.
But I think you'll find it's a pretty open license.

I figured it was either security or that the same or similar code was used in other MS games and you wanted to keep it away from the cheaters. I understand either way.
Thanks. :)
