The Express versions work perfectly find side-by-side with other versions of Visual Studio. It was deliberately designed that way.

I think the tools are going to be released free since they are after a big chunk of the game dev community. I don't think they are going to charge though i don't know they are still probably trying to iron that out. One way or another though eventually there will be the ability to code in VS Pro free i am sure someone will come up with hacks and plugins some how. I dont' know 100% though.

They have not announced if they will release a free plugin for the non express versions of Visual Studio. At this point, it is only assumed that you will need to purchase the XNA Professional edition to aquire this plugin. The Visual C# Express will install side by side with VS Pro. In fact it will even share a good portion of its files with VS Pro, hence reducing the download time. You can have multiple versions of Visual Studio installed side by side. At work I have VS 6.0, VS .NET 2003 Pro, VS .NET 2005 Team Edition, and XNA Express all installed side by side. At home I have VS 2005 Standard and XNA Express installed side by side. Search the forums, this topics actually been discussed quite a few times now.

theres 2 versions of XNA, game studio express(free) and game studio professional(pay) the express version is pretty much just the free version of XNA, much like visual studio express is the free version of visual studio I really dont know the difference between the two

so, to get the version compatable with the pro version of visual studio, im probably going to have to pay for it

ill try installing c# express later and see how it goes.

    thanks

there isn't a plugin yet for VS pro, but it is comeing with the commercial release of the framework as far as i know.

Also haveing C# express and VS.NET Pro works just fine side by side. I interchange with them a lot on my computer.
