• rusty123 Passing the Excel parameters to the backend

  I can define parameters in Excel Services, but I couldn't find any directions on how to pass those parameters to the back-end SQL Server relational database. Our users may see different set of data depending on their position. The Asia manager isn't allowed to see New York data for instance. I need to identify the user currently viewing the Excel sheet, and pass it's name as a parameter to the SQL server, so that SQL will filter out the data that the user isn't allowed to see. • Ather. Physical seperation of layers - business layer -> data layer?

  Hi Forum Does it make any sense to build a design that supports more than one physical seperation. I'm making a web application and I need to make it secure and scalable. I can see an idea in making it possible to physically seperate the presentation layer from the business layer. You can put the presentation layer in a DMZ. Does it make sense to make it possible to physically seperate the business tier from the data tier What requirements would justify such a design I'm making a web application that is to run on a web farm in a hosting center.   I have a challange. I have multiple services that are located on different server setups. They are build stateless N-tier architectures based on single call remoting. The services do not support the flow of transactions. This would also couple the services an go against the very idea of service orientation.   I just want to know how to do it right. The customer wants to get a docflow with purchase orders. Some managers might approve the order and could edit some fields in the form. Any files (scans, docs) could be attached to the form. After all the filled/approved form have to be saved in a document library.
