  • AlfonsAberg Source code control using MOSS 2007

Hi All, We are using Miscrosoft share point server 2007. We like to know if there is a possibility to use this for the source code(from Visual Studio) versioning. If it can be done, can you please point me to some documents which talks about this. Thanks in Advance. Lokeya Just to emphasise the correctness of the previous poster's comment by repeating them. Versioning in the v3 SharePoint products is greatly improved on the "versioning" that was in the v2 SharePoint products but still isn't good enough for Source Code control. Mike Source code control is not content versioning. VSTS, and WSS 3.0 are designed with this dis ...Show All

  • Andy Britcliffe where can I find an example of requirement document for some small project example

And also, if there is any place with examples of software documents for all developement phases (use case example, class diagram, sequence diagram example, requirement document example) just to understand how we use that in real business. I would appreciate. Thank you You could have a look at this url: http://www.extremeprogramming.org They describe one method that can be used to design and build a project, but the design bit is not very detailed. You could also have patiente (not sure how much ) and keep track of my weblog ( http://jonaveen.spaces.live.com ) and I will elaborate on this in the near future. I use the MoSCoW principle for requirements. It's short for Must have, Shoul ...Show All

  • CostasT Where can I find older versions of Microsoft Products?

Hi All, I don't know if this is the right place to post this question, if the moderator thinks it's not, please move it to the right one. I wanted to ask you guys if you can post some urls where I can download older versions of ALL microsoft products. (DirectX, Windows Media Player, MS Office, etc ...) I need these to test my apps that it would be backward compatible to older releases of the products. If you can point me to an archive site where microsoft keeps their older (even unsupported) products (if there is one), I would gladly appreciate it. You will find that if you have an MSDN Subscription you should be able to get hold of the older products that are still active, As to older versions you m ...Show All

  • Alastair Q Custom IRM Protector

The SDK has some light documentation on creating custom IRM protectors, but no reference as to where to get the interfaces or the class definitions for the supporting classes. Is there a typelib somewhere I can't find it. A sample project would be nice too. The documentation has a sample pseudo-implementation, but there's no way to get started without the COM interface definition. Interesting, I figured out why I couldn't find it. The link you provided is to the beta version of the ECM Starter Kit. The MOSS 2007 SDK now includes the ECM Starter Kit as part of its install. That's what I have installed, and that header file is missing from the SDK install. Looks like somebody maybe missed a f ...Show All

  • John1001 Architectural Considerations for Auditing

We are building an application which connects to two kinds of database viz. one is a local database store and other is located at a central server. Now to perform auditing for every transaction I am of the opinion to do auditing at the database level. Implement it as part of trigger insertion into an audit table. Reason being its simple to implement and maintain. My Database Architect is against the idea and wants me to handle auditing at the application level. Would appreciate your viewpoints and guidance on this. Thanks Sai Dear Sai, Generally raw db audits don't satisfy the audit requirements from most applications as understanding data out of raw audits is complicated. I recommend that y ...Show All

  • Hussain Saffar UML question

I have a web site that I am documenting. It does a search process and stores the criteria choices in the session. The it goes into another page for view order details.   I displayed the activation to start of the criteria and at the end of the criteria when they come back. But, I was looking at another architects drawings for another company and he makes the activation small. And, yes since a page is delivered right after a request. I can see him make short activations. But, since the criteria is held in session I think the activation should extend until this data is released.   Main --> || Search  --> Details            &nb ...Show All

  • Ondis multi tier to one tier with WCF and Linq?

This weekend I have played a little with Linq, and in my current project we are using WCF (I love it). My current project is n-tier: per-table dal, dal, bll, sil, client. Well, looking to WCF and to Linq we will have something like this: per-table dal, dal --> Linq Bll will implement service interface. Sil --> user security will be into a dll that you can use through WCF (claims security). What do you think weekend paranoia :P Looks great ..but you will have to see how much LINQ is performant than traditional methods. http://DotNetWithMe.blogspot.com vikas goyal ...Show All

  • a_takavci failover to backup web service

Thanks for the comments. (Perhaps I should have mentioned, the servers are in separate cities, for disaster hardening). Thanks for the feedback! Why have a 'backup' service when you could load balance 2 or more servers and therefore not have to worry about fail over servers from a code perspective.
