Drakuz Applying Policy to participant CSFService
Hi, I was trying to apply a policy to a participant CSFService. The policy was UsernameoverTransport. I followed the following steps: Created a new UsernameoverTransport policy with the help of WSE3.0 wizard and applied the policy to the CSFService by setting Policy attribute for CSFService. Created an Application for the CSFService using Identity Manager. Created a Usermap for Applicaton. Modified the SessionPolicyMappings.config file to use UsernameoverTransport policy when sending message to the CSFService. Modified the Manifest file to create a Persona participant Added Policy information to the CSFService participant and specified sending secondary credentials over transport using Basic scheme. RSUser08 security data between layers
We are designing an application with sevreal layers. Data Business Logic Services Client - Gui ASP.NET or WebServices Wea re thinking of authorization in the BL and maybe in the Data layer. our problem is tramsfering the current data between the layers in an easy way. Any ideas when you use webservices, and you want authorization on methods. take a look at Azman http://msdn.microsoft.com/msdnmag/issues/03/11/AuthorizationManager/ Hi, I don't think that ws is an issue here. It is about layers. It is true that wse can supply you the security (using username token for example), but the performance will be bad. Maybe you need to implement your own custom security provider. polocar Sharepoint development future? .NET 3.5 and beyond...
We are at the beginning of developing for Sharepoint 2007. It has however occured to me that with .NET 3.5 on the horizon (with Orcas release of Visual Studio) will we be locked into coding .NET 2.0 (and 3.0 with the right wrappers) until Sharepoint is updated What is the roadmap for this as it has implications for our ability to keep pace with current technology if we are tied to the Sharepoint platform for development True,.. but if Sharepoint isn't going to be able to leaverage the gradually evolving .NET platform, then we are currently in a position to switch to building our own portal and making use of Sharepoint via Services. With a 5 year life span on an intranet, it is a consideration, we don ...Show All
polymorphicx How are you gnerating application definitions?
Hello All, I am just cusrious to know how are you guys generating your application definitions in BDC by hand or using one of the tools out there to auto generate that scary XML file I am unable to find a tool which gives me the ability to include stored procedures in my app def instead of pure tables or views Any help would be appreciated. Thanks a lot What tools specifically are out there I found a couple of utlities but wondered if there are better ones out there. Hi All, Wonder why Microsoft spent so much time creating SPS 2007 with BDC as its main feature failed to provide a tool to help devlopers generate BDC MetaData; that kind of defeat the purpose of trying to get more people t ...Show All
susan8 Preventing denial of service attacks in public APIs
Hi Forum We are building some web services which will be available to our customers. What is the best way to prevent denail of service attacks My worst fear is actually the accidental never ending loop that a programmer might do. How does one prevent a never a ending loop by an external programmer Is it something that should be programmed into the application Max Object Limit on Inserts - Valid option I can see that if would be quite easy to prevent too many inserts. We could decide on a limit of max entries pr. user for each object type and then do a count before each insert. This is by no means a way to prevent denial of service but it could be one of the tools to use Is it a bad idea - It cannot do anyting about reads, ...Show All

Penny Ong if not to use session variables then what
Hi Everybody, I have question which comes to mind of nearly everybody who is designing a webapplication in .net. I wish to store some user related data across the webpages in a Asp.net website. Since the data is big, i don't wish to use session variables to store that. So where should i store it One thing i want to make clear here that i don;t want to use cookies(now i think i am becoming too selfish :) ). Somebody told me of making a class static but i don't know whether it is a feasible solution for a webapplication .IF somebody knows about this ,kindly let me know with some code for direction. Some other people say that we should persist the class which is holding the data. I don't know how to do it, might be by serial ...Show All

jrad signing a form failed
I deployed an InfoPath 2007 form to my site collection successfully. I'm able to open it in the browser and enter data and the form is saved fine. However, when I try to sign it, it gives a red message at the bottom of the form: "There is a problem with this signature." with a Show Details and a Remove link next to it. Clicking the Show Details link pops up a Signature Details window. At the top again there's a red message: "Verification error - An error occured during signature verfication." Under the Additional signature information section in this Window, everything looks fine to me (no red msg or marks). If I open the form in InfoPath 2007, I can sign it without problem with the same certificate.& ...Show All
Vishalgiri Install WSS 3.0 on Vista (or only Windows Server)?
Hi all, I thought I read somewhere that you could install WSS on Vista (I have Business Edition) - is this correct or can it only be installed on Windows Server Thanks in advance. Grant. Hi Bob, Thanks for your reply. We have SharePoint running at my work and I wanted to set it up at home just for testing/development (of webparts etc) and generally getting to play around with it. It looks as though I may be taking over the admin/helpdesk of SharePoint at work in the near future so wanted to be prepared. I will just setup a virtual server and run Windows Server. Cheers and thanks again. Kind Regards, Grant. Back to what Nick Swan mention ...Show All
tranders could some one comment the ExcelService.CalculationA1
I think the CalculationA1 can calculate some thing base on the post ExcelService.CalculateA1 Method (Microsoft.Office.Excel.Server.WebServices) However I don't know how to use it and what ' type of scenario could use it. Any suggestion The entire content about Excel Services extensibility is here: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms517343.aspx You may want to take a look for some good context. Thanks, Danny I think what Shahar was trying to correct my earlier statement that: "CalculateA1 calculates tha range specified (and it's dependents/dependecies) " is incorrect and should not include the parenthesis since it *only* calcs the range and not dependencies. Thanks for the correction Shahar! P ...Show All
Ori' What is the most valuable principle in design?
In looking at SOA, earlier component based design, separation of concerns, etc. It seems to me that architecturally they can all be lumped in to various flavors of abstraction. So, it occurs to me and seems to hold true in my designs that the most valuable principle in software design is abstraction. Does anyone feel that a different principle is more critical Are there different schools of thought (SOA, SOC, Interface based design, etc.) that are contradictory when dealing with abstraction New to the forum, but have been wanting to talk with people that make an effort to further their design knowledge. Hi, I think you misunderstood my explanation on KISS. KISS is neither being non-extensible nor UI ...Show All
kperson sharepoint 2007 showing System Account instead of Username / full name

Rajesh batchu workflow with anonymous access
We have a Request for Information form that can be accessed anonymously and the anonymous users have add and view priveleges. What we want is when the user submits the form to have a workflow kick off that sends an email to the user who submitted the form using the email address within the form data and also send an email to an administrator. However, we are seeing some problems with anonymous users and workflow playing nice together. · If a user is logged in (windows authentication), then the form works as expected, the data is stored in the database, the user is directed to the appropriate page and the workflow runs. · ...Show All
