AlanKohl Sites or Portals
I am currently investigating the rollout of Sharepoint 2007 to teaching staff and students but are currently unsure at this stage what's the best and most effective way to deploy this. Each of the teaching areas is split into directorate and then into departments, like so; Institute of Tourism and Sport (Institute) Tourism (Dept) Hospitality (Dept) Sports Studies (Dept) Would it be better to structure the deployment so that each Institute is a portal and the departments is a site, or create a single portal, create the Institute as category groups and create the departments as sites What are the pro's/con's of each take a look at the Plan sites and features section the Planning ...Show All
Jan Byvaly Creating users without adding them in the AD
Hello: Maybe this coul be a silly question but is it possible to create users accounts without using the Active Directory Regards. Thank you. I've been reading a little bit of Membership Provider Model, and It seem that I have to do something with the Web.config, am I right Local server accounts mean that you still ahve to have a windows CAL for each user, if that's not a concern, then the local machine accounts would be an option. If you are concerned about licencing costs for the application, you would want to use a forms based authentication and a different membership provider. Here's an article that might help: http://weblog.vb-tech.com/nick/archi ...Show All

Rahul Singla Any way to retrieve original SOAP action?
When a message gets processed by the Session Engine, the original SAOP action gets lost. For example, consider the following route (borrowed from the Intercept example) <Route> <Criteria>(ACTION EQ 'http://www.contoso.com/intercept/AddResponse')</Criteria> <Destination>UIParticipant[http://www.contoso.com/SampleServices/RouteResponse]</Destination> </Route> In the resulting SOAP call to the UIParticipant, the original action (AddResponse) is never mentioned. Neil Ault .Net Remoting load balancer needed
Hi I am looking for the best way to design or purchase a loadbalancer component using .Net remoting. I have an architecture where several servers using .net remoting are used to sevice client apps. The loadbalancer should conduct the call of any client app to the least loaded server. What I have done so far is implementing a small loadbalancer component that keeps track of the available servers and their load. When a new client app wants to login and use the services offered by the servers, it should ask (transparently) the loadbalancer for the least loaded server. The loadbalancer will then return an ObjRef object which the client app will use to authenticate itself to the least loaded server and start using its services. If an ...Show All
