the-rpd How are you gnerating application definitions?
Hello All, I am just cusrious to know how are you guys generating your application definitions in BDC by hand or using one of the tools out there to auto generate that scary XML file I am unable to find a tool which gives me the ability to include stored procedures in my app def instead of pure tables or views Any help would be appreciated. Thanks a lot Andrew, >>we are left with two options, edit the xml or purchase a xml editor This time I do agree with you:-). Point was that Microsoft should not leave these things to the partners. Hi All, Wonder why Microsoft spent so much time creating SPS 2007 with BDC as its main feature failed to provi ...Show All

Hi I have done a standalone install and added a couple of users, a couple of sites and a couple of documents. Searcing for any of these returns nothing. Xiaobo Gu Code Generation - MyGeneration, CodeSmith, GAT/GAX or DSL?
I am looking to generate code based on a database structure. I want to start with a base template and add things I need to it. My goal is to auto generate the boring repetative code so I can focus on the most important areas. I have been looking at CodeSmith and MyGeneration which both have starting point templates that use Enterprise Library but I wanted to see what Microsofts approach was. Is it Guidance Automation or DSL If so does anybody have an example of how to generate DAL classes and entity classes from a database using these tools Fellas, I’m sorry but I insist: aren’t we facing the issue from the solution perspective without considering what the problem actually was The original issue ...Show All
Atul Bahl SharePoint Security - Domain Admin Account
It has come to my attention recently that the domain admin account has full access to each of our sharepoint site collections. i have verified that it is not set up as a site collection "owner". I went into central admin and confirmed it is not a member of the farm administrators group. However, when i select sign in as another user on a site, and use the admin account, i still have full access to every site collection it seems. currently we are running wss version 3 and sql 2000 on one server. is there another reason this might occur or something else i should check out the only other thing i can think of is the account i setup to use and edit the databases is the domain admin account. but i thought by default the admins grou ...Show All
CodeDigger Modeling .Net Generics in Visual UML Diagrams
Hi Forum I'm trying to find out how I should depict our generic collections or generic types in general. Our company has a range of generic collections and I want to deliver class diagrams to developers where I depict the various generic collections that we have. (So I guide them to use the right one for the job) I only have Visio to work with - Is there any good way of doing this This isn't the answer, but is very informative on designing class diagrams into Z http://www-users.cs.york.ac.uk/~fiona/PUBS/umlcd2z-fmep.pdf Is the best way to make new types each type you use them and call them something like: XXXCollectionOfProduct XXXColle ...Show All

mipe10 Programmatic access to Custom List Form fields, How?
The Scenario: I have two lists that are linked to each other in a sort of Parent/Child record relationship. It makes perfect sense, from a user experience perspective, to create child record(s) when creating the parent record. (As an example think of an Invoice and InvoiceItems type of relationship.) On the other hand, it is not a requirement from the client so my intention is to customize the Parent record form to take you to the child record NewForm.aspx with some kind of logic that would pass the Parent record ID parameter to the child record and also select that record in the default drop down that MOSS renders for that field. Supporting Material: I am not the strongest MOSS developer, although I've been a developer for ma ...Show All
Tom De Cort Stored procedure vs standard query
hi, I am in process of evaluating that for simple CRUD operations(select, update, delete, insert), should we use stored procedures or should we fire queries directly from DAL for performance enhancement leaving aside the fact the stored procedure pproach will mix the data access and business logic . If somebody could provide any microsoft URL link giving clearcut recommendation on the same,it would be of great help to me. Regards Actually for simple queries it doesn't make much difference whether you use sp or queries from app code. only when it comes to complicated queries you have to make decision between performance vs maintainability/IPR/Security. But CLR coming in SQL server may be that ...Show All

Will Merydith WSS 3.0. Should I upgrade?
Hi, We have got WSS 2.0 installed with TFS v1 installation. Ever since we are using this system for our document library and collaboration. While using the system we discovered many issues in WSS 2.0 that can cause data loss. Given below are two main issues: 1) If a user (intentionally/unintentionally) deletes a document in WSS 2.0, all its versions get deleted with no option to recover. 2) It allows a second user to checkin document that is checked out by first user. That too without first user's knowledge. Now that WSS 3.0 is out, I'm wondering if it makes any sense to upgrade Does it solve issues like above Cheers! Rensoc Architecture options for running a long process from an ASP.NET website
Hi, We currently have a solution where a user can upload a file, which gets processed in an ASP.NET v1.1 intranet website The solution was designed to handle 10-100 items, but customers have (ab)used the solution to process 1000-10000 items. Processing 100 items takes less then a minute, processing 1000 items takes around 7 minutes, larger uploads take (non-linear) longer. Now besides performance tuning the processing, I want to gather feedback on what is the best strategy to take the upload and have it process 'asynchronously'. After the upload, the user would immediatly get a status page which would refresh itself (every so often). So I have a few questions about what would be the best route to go about 1) Which process to ...Show All

I tried the code that came with my laptop and the one that came with the CD, both don't work. I basically think it's because the CD was used to install an XP, BUT that WinXP installation was removed. So I have a not working CD now, I need help, I want to activate Windows so I can use Windows Media Player and other programs. I would appreciate the help. ...Show All
