  I want to build an event logging class that allows a client to log messages. Windows Event Log and Xml files are the initial storage types I'd like to provide first, adding Database storage later. My question is regarding building an installer class that would prepare the chosen log type. Ideally I would like the developer using the API to be able to do this: LogInstaller objLogInst = new LogInstaller( LogType.Xml | LogType.EventLog /*[Flags]enum ... */ ); objLogInst.Install(); The missing piece here is, of course, the parameters needed for each type of install (e.g. FilePath, AppName, etc...).   Hi, I tried to install sharepoint 3.0 in win 2k3 sp1 with all Req hardware.While installing the setup files are extracted properly.But when i run the configuration wizard,i encounter an error, Failed To Start database service MSSQL$Microsoft##SSEE.Repair this product by selecting it from theAdd/RemovePrograms menu. At this particular step the installation terminates.... I have tried by 1.Uninstalling all related programs and reinstalling 2. repairing the sharepoint package. 3.Even using regedit to remove the installation files of MSSQl ..... • Bryant Likes Sharepoint Designer + Expression - Frontpage = ?

  I just downloaded the Frontpage replacement which consists of two products named Microsoft Sharepoint Designer and Microsoft Expression. From what I can tell the two products are practically identical in functionality. Questions: 1. What is the difference if any 2. It looks to me like I can accomplish the same things that either of these two products are capable of using Visual Studio 2005. • Javahar Web Service for Bank's internal operations

  Dear All. I am very new to XML Web Services. I read that ther are suitable for connecting different organizations and different systems. But What do you think Is it true logic to use Web Services for inside bank operations: f.e: AddNewCustomer, EditCustomer, DebetAccount. So, in general operatiosn that use "Data Manipulation Language". So, not to use siply Client-Server architecture, there will Client-WebSrvice/s - Database Server.   Hi As I understand it, permissioning in Portal 2003 is applied on a per document library basis - is there any way to leverage more granularity out of this Here is my scenario: We have 100 sales staff, and want a way to keep their performance data on Sharepoint (2-3 Excel files per salesperson). We want them to see their own data, but our sales manager to see all data. Also some people may see others data (line managers, etc). Currently I am storing this on a file-server, using NTFS permissioning. I would prefer to fully integrate this into Sharepoint. We currently run Portal Server 2003. Many thanks for helping a noob. • RDuke looking to improve efficency or finding a different control

  This question mainly has to deal with web forms. Let's say I want the user to select from a combobox-type control (which I'll explain in a bit) and let the user choose from 8000 different options. First of all, we have our own custom control that consits of a text box and a list box that shows up underneath which acts as a combobox. To eliminate a huge performance hit on the browser, we load all 8000 items on startup into Javascript arrays. After that, when the user types a single letter, results with that starting character are displayed in the listbox and so on. What I'm interested in is a little better architecture of this problem.   Here's my problem. I use windows Notepad to write text documents. When I write those text documents, in the toolbar at the top, I have Wordwrap (in the format menu) checkmarked so that I don't have to press the Return key whenever I reach the right edge of the screen. When I'm through & I've saved it & all that, whenever I open a text document later on (unless I'm editing it), I prefer to open it with Internet Explorer 7 .   I build my debug version, install it in GAC, then I reset iisreset .When i place a breakpoint I get the message: breakpoint will not currently be hit. no symbols have been loaded for this document Have u had this before.   I need one help from you guys......   Hello, I am wrestling with the decision on how to design a new (Order Entry) application. I am using VB 2005, and it will be a Windows Forms app. I have about an intermediate+ level of expertise. In the past I have used VB DataSets and the whole dataset designer which connects to the database. Since then I have learned about O/R mapping tools and am considering using DevForce from IdeaBlade. It seems to work well, so far connecting to the database and generating the classes that relate to the tables. I like this concept and think it makes sense.
