DJW1005 How can I change the channel config?
I using IAudioChannelConfig interface to set channel config. It returns S_OK. And the value I read back is right. But it doesn't work correctly. When the original config is KSAUDIO_SPEAKER_STEREO, and I set it to KSAUDIO_SPEAKER_QUAD, the back left and back right channels are still no sound. The same thing happens in using SetSpeakerConfig() function of DirectSound. How should I do OS: Windows Vista RC1 WDK: Microsoft Windows SDK 6.0 DirectX SDK: 2006,Aug. Did you found any solution so far I try to do so... I saw one control panel beeing able to set the speaker configuration and Mitch from MS reply to me that if you own the driver there is more than a way to do it! But, he d ...Show All
Dietz Error 0x88982f50 when setting properties on Vista
Just like IanG wrote in his post (see http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx PostID=185614&SiteID=1 ), the same thing happened to me, but in final Vista version. When trying to set some properties (tags) on a JPG picture (located at my Pictures folder on V: partition), the following error dialog appeared: The dialog title is "Apply Properties File". The error text is "An unexpected error is preventing the operation. Make a note of this error code, which might be useful if you get additional help to resolve this problem: Error 0x88982f50: No error description available" Beneath this it shows a preview of the bitmap, along with the filename, dimensions and size. BobH IID_IUnknown unresolved external symbol
Hi All, I am trying to build a custom directshow filter in platform builder for WinCE 5.0. At linking , it throws errors for unresolved external symbols for IID_IUnknown, IID_IClassFactory and IID_IPersist ..ie. all the interfaces I use in my filter. My filter inherits the CBaseFIlter class. I have included uuid.lib, strmbase.lib , strmiids.lib. Any idea what could be going wrong here Do I have to define these values in my filter If yes .. what is the value All suggestions are welcome ! Regards, Ram Thanks for the quick reply, LGS. I had a look at uuid.lib and I found the definition of IID_IUnknown but I couldn't see why my project wouldn't build. BTW I'm attempting to use the I ...Show All
Fred Liang Microsoft Activesync will not recognize Office 2007 Beta
I have currently upgraded my office 2003 to Office 2007 Beta and my activesync will no longer recognize that Office is installed and will, therefore, not sync my Outlook data. Has anyone else had this issue Any thoughts on resolutions to this I am using HP 6325 (Phone/PDA combo) with Microsoft Pocket PC Version 4.20.0 (Build 14350) I have O2 Exec and was worried that upgrading to Office 2007 might be a mistake. Luckily it all seems to be working smoothly. Word 2007 has a compatibility mode automatically switched on. Seems no problem for transferring old .doc texts. On a few quick first tests Outlook 2007 synchs fine with the new Activesynch 4.2.0 Beta. I also use Pocket Informant and on first loo ...Show All
furjaw Telnet
we can't find telnet in vista. Is this great tool removed in vista You are better off using PuTTY. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PuTTY (link on the bottom) You get ssh support, logging, and the ability to maximize the window out-of-the-box; along with backwards support for unencrypted/vanilla telnet. The new releases of Redhat don't even enable telnet by default; so having the -ssh command line option is often useful. James A. Fidence Unsupported media state while drive becoming ready
I have consistently seen IDiscFormat2Data::get_CurrentMediaStatus return a state of IMAPI_FORMAT2_DATA_MEDIA_STATE_UNSUPPORTED_MEDIA after I insert a blank recordable disc, after the drive becomes ready. There seems to be a transient state that exists immediately after the drive becomes ready. Prior to this state, while the drive is becoming ready, the get_CurrentMediaStatus method correctly returns an HRESULT of E_IMAPI_RECORDER_MEDIA_BECOMING_READY; then, immediately after becoming ready, it returns S_OK but reports a media state of unsupported. If you call it subsequently, it will return S_OK and correctly report the state as IMAPI_FORMAT2_DATA_MEDIA_STATE_BLANK. It appears that this proble ...Show All
Bigmo Distributed Transaction is faster than ADO transaction?
We have a load testing for distributed and ADO transaction with SQL 2005 and Oracle 9i, the test results are quite interesting. The distributed transaction is faster, both for SQL and Oracle. I can not understand. :( We have 2 simple pages, and the load testing simulates 100 users click the button at the same time, the database operation will batch update 10 records with DataAdapter. Can someone explain it for me No news about this I am curious. Hi Jack, Can I get your email I want to send you the complete code. My address is xiaofeng_at_ncsi_dot_com_dot_cn . Peter Hamann VNC and Session 0 Isolation
Hello, I am the author of Bozteck VNCScan Enterprise Network Manager . I am a bit concerned about the new session 0 isolation in Vista. When VNC is installed to a Vista computer as a service, it is locked into running at only session 0 and that is pretty much useless for what it is designed to accomplish. In session 0, you can not remote control the computer or even get a remote screen shot of it. Our software is relied upon by over 100,000 Network Administrators across the globe and I have heard many of them voice deep concern about moving to the new Vista platform if VNC will no longer work properly. RDP is not an option because it does not allow the end user to interact with or view what the remote administrator is doing on their PC ...Show All
bzoli When does workflow instance released?
Hi, I wrote simple sequential workflow. The application sequence is very simple: 1. WebService gets a call and instantiates a processing object (that gathers parameters) 2. Processing object executes the workflow with parameters. Now the problem: I noticed that corresponding process (w3wp.exe) memory grows and hardly goes down (if at all) till the application pool's "idle timeout" reached and the process is shut down. I assume that workflow instances stay in memory and that's a reason why process' memory doesn't go down. Here is a only configuration I have in web.config regarding the workflow: <WorkflowRuntime Name="WorkflowServiceContainer"> <Services> & ...Show All

;lkj;lk Answers to commonly asked questions about Kernel Mode Driver/Code Signing and what it means for Pro Audio developers...
Do I need to be concerned about signing my kernel mode code There are several benefits to signing your kernel mode: a) Unsigned kernel mode code will not be allowed to load on an x64 version of Windows Vista b) Unsigned Plug and Play drivers will present the user with a Windows security dialog warning the user that the publisher could not be verified and suggesting that they only install driver software from publishers that they trust. c) Playback of next generation premium content such as HD DVD or other content protected through the Advanced Access Content System (AACS) may require that all code loaded into the kernel is signed by a trusted source. If it is not, they content will not play back on the ...Show All
Darrell Norton WPF/e vs. HTML
After reading Mike Harsh's blog post What WPF/e Really is . I'm kind of disappointed with the approach that the Architects are taking with WPF/e, as in that it augments HTML instead of replacing it. Why not Personaly I find that HTML slows me down in producing rich content for my users (something that WPF promises). Sure its easy, its fast, and we should keep it (not every website needs rotating letters). However, as I see .NET being used -alot- for mission critical application, I would only EXPECT WPF/e to take the fore front and upgrading the way we provide commericial services on the Internet in a fast, uniform way. Flash is doing this, Flex is not 'augmenting' the Web, its rewriting it. Share your thoughts. It w ...Show All
Ather. Retrieving Color Values
Although color values can happily be assigned by name or hexadecimal notation they appear to be stored in a less friendly numeric format that is not consistent between browsers. For example, obj.fill="red" easily assigns a color value to obj, but then referencing obj.fill.color returns a numeric value of 4294901760 in Internet Explorer and a numeric value of -65536 in Firefox. The numeric value returned by IE can be reverted to a useful hexadecimal value with ("#" + obj.fill.color.toString(16)) but that returned by Firefox is not so straightforward. For instance, an assigned Yellow value returns 4294967040 in IE but -256 in FF. Is there a better way to retrieve a useful color value ...Show All
