czkiam Applying TrackingProfiles to a base class workflow and all sub-classes
Is there any way of applying the same TrackingProfile to all workflow instances that inherit from a common base class workflow e.g. BaseWorkflow ---> has its own tracking profile DerivedWorkflow1 : BaseWorkflow DerivedWorkflow2 : BaseWorkflow etc. My experiments suggest that when using the SQL Tracking service a separate (in my case identical) profile must be defined for each and every DerivedWorkflow type: a BaseWorkflow profile is not applicable to the derived workflows. This is a bit of a maintenance headache when large numbers of derived workflows exist. Thanks for the suggestions. It is unlikely that other workflow types will be tracking in the same DB so I'll update the default profile. ...Show All
Craig Celeste Out-of-process client-side provider
Hi Thomas, It's been almost a year since you started this thread but I happened to bump into this one only now - hope you're still around :-) We're evaluating the UIA framework capabilities from the test automation angle. We started with server-side implementation of UIA providers for our guinea pig, the .NET MenuStrip control, and met with success there. However, while trying to develop a Client-side UIA provider, we have run into what looks like a design issue. Here goes: We have a target form hosted in Host Process that houses a menu strip that we need to access using UIA from another, Test Driver process. This Test Driver process is a GUI test driver that wants to automate operations on the MenuStrip control in the Hos ...Show All
Latso I The requested operation requires elevation.
I'm trying to download Poser 6 to my computer running Windows Vista but I keep getting a message saying "The requested operation requires elevation." I'm using the adminstrative account and can't figure out what the problem is. This tread has answered the problem I had yesterday with ipconfig but I'm curious mention of disabling UAC (whatever that is) and wondering whether doing so would eliminate an annoyance for me. My preffered operating system is Linux and the way that works with root access would suit me, ie. If I log on Vista (Home) with an administrator accout, I would like to accept full responsability for doing so without having to confirm that I want to do certain things or find some c ...Show All
Oliver_Schwarz Image.Source + Permission Denied?
Hello, I am currently working with the December CTP of WPF/E and I am attempting to dynamically set an Image source via some JavaScript. Within my .xaml I have the following snippet: < Image x:Name = " Image1 " Source = " Images/Test.png " Canvas.Left = " 5 " Canvas.Top = "1 0 " /> Within my JavaScript, I have: var image1 = activeXControl.findName( "Image1" ); if (image1 != null ) { alert(image1.source); image1.source = "Images/Test2.png"; } When I run the code, I receive a JavaScript error that says "Permission Denied" however, the SDK document states I should be able to set the Source property. Is this just a CTP ...Show All
Nelson Rodrigues architectural questions
Hi I'm new to WWF and WCF and I have some architectural questions. If the anwers are already published, if you could point me toward the literature, I'll thanks you and apologize in advance for the duplication. I have a fairly straighforward sequential workflow to build and deploy that is stimulated by a variety of external applications and will run without intervention over several days. My current thought is to build a Window Service that in OnStart() opens a WCF ServiceHost and calls a separate class that implements the ServiceHost's ServiceContact to start the WorkflowRuntime and maintain a reference to it in a private static variable. External processes can then call into this class through the WCF ServiceHost interface to initi ...Show All
MateuszKierepka GEM Plus USB Card readers
Does anyone know if there is a newer version of the Gemplus USB card reader drivers It doesn't appear to work at the moment with Vista. That said, I haven't been able to uninstall the old drivers to even put new ones on yet.. Vista just doens't uninstall it when you try. Gemplus will need to address the issue of their software not uninstalling. The programs listed in “Programs and Features” rely on the uninstall process provided by the software vendor. It appears that the uninstall process provided by Gemplus is not compatible with vista. This issue is most likely not a "Bug" in windows vista. There are many software standards now enforced with vista. The purpose of this Forum is to ...Show All
pasha2k Adding services from an activity
Is it possible to add a service from an activity . Is there any way to access the runtime I would like to develop an activity so that all the logic is encapsulated in itself (I don't want to ask users to add services in the host). So it would be nice to have an activity that can add the services it needs dynamically (if they were not previouslly added) Any idea Jon is correct it cannot be done, and even if it could be done, I realized it probably would not be very useful because by the time the activity was up it might already be "too late" for it. One thing I would recommend though would be to ensure that your activities check in the Initialize() that the required services are availab ...Show All
Javier Carvajal Windows Vista beta 2 boot menu uses a screen mode not supported by some monitors.
I cannot see the Windows Vista beta 2 boot menu on my Xerox XA-3 LCD monitor. The menu works with an older monitor. Since the LCD monitor is quite recent, I expect Windows Vista to be fully compatible with it. From what I can see on my older monitor, the Windows Vista boot menu uses a graphical screen mode, or at least a non-standard text mode. Previous versions of Windows used a text screen mode (80 x 25 characters) which works on both monitors. Why not continue to use the text mode That is exactly my point. The monitor is in perfect working order, but appears not to support that mode. It works fine in graphic modes such as 1280x1024, 1024x768, 800x600, 640x480 and text modes such as 80x50, 80x25 (t ...Show All
Ephi Per App Volume not working for pure MIDI application
Hi there, I am not sure if this is the correct forum, please direct me to the correct one if it is not. Thanks. My issue here is that I have a MIDI application that uses only midiOut******() API to playback MIDI files, the reason for this is that I need advanced control over the output of the MIDI sound. Thus every NotesOn or NotesOff or etc from MIDI command will be outputed to the Software Synth using midiOutShortMsg(). In this case I've realized that the system does not give me a "per app volume" that my application can play with. Which means that the only way to mute or change the volume of my application is to use the master volume. Is there any solution for this Thanks. Best Regards, ChiaFong. ...Show All
Angry Coder ExternalDataExchage object crosstalk
I'm seeing some odd behavior with ExternalDataExchange and wondered if I was seeing the correct behavior or what. I have an app and workflow that share data objects (versus serialized XML or something). The objects, being reference types, are created on the heap and therefore are available to objects running in the same AppDomain. The issue is I expected to see the objects serialized when passing between app and workflow (or back again) such that I would have two different instances of the objects being passed. To me, this was the architectural point of ExternalDataExchange. But that's not what I'm seeing. The objects, being reference types, are merely being passed by reference, so that when they're updated in one location (say, t ...Show All

Apple I Vista and Symantec Ghost 8.x
Ever since build 5231, I've found myself unable to use Ghost (8.0 or 8.2) "as I've always been able to". By which I mean with 5219, XP, 2000, etc., I can just create a partition backup, restore a partition backup, no muss, no fuss, all successful. (I have an XP-compatible boot manager, have four independant partitions that are always hidden from one another, and I restore just one partition based on what OS/test/scenario I need to create.) Now with 5231 and later, creating a Ghost image of a partition always results in the "unable to access \windows\winload.exe" (or whatever that exact full-screen message from the Vista boot manager is). Regardless of whether I'm restoring back to exactly the same partition as I backed up ...Show All

141695 Any licensing required using WWF?
Hi All Had this question in my mind before making a sw product out of WWF for my business. Have around 50 licenses for VS 2005 Developer's Edition. Now creating some workflows in new sw products. Download WWF Extensions for VS 2005. These extensions have the WWF Debugger & the WWF Designer in them. Do I need any additional license to use these Extensions in my products. Thanks VK Hi Vishal No you dont need any additional lisence for that ! , moreover as WF is integral part of .NET Framework 3.0 you can leverage it without having to purchase any other lisence (same as .NET Framework 2.0 and .NET Framework 1.x ) If you also have some questions in mind regarding usage of WF ...Show All
rajesh_batchu Hosting Workflow Foundation with Webservices
I'm trying to understand how Windows Workflow services can work with webservices. I have gone through the examples of workflows but these are quite simple workflows and merely consists of exposing a webserviceReceive activity followed by a customActivity and followed by a webserviceResponse activity. What about cases where there needs to be a delay of several days. For example, a workflow within a webservice is started and then comes to a listening stage and needs to wait for 2-3 days for a response from a manager to approve in order to proceed to the next stage Can webservices handle these scenarios or do I need to host these workflows within Windows services and merely use webservices as interfaces to receive or return data to a ...Show All
