  • jovert Anyone know a self extracting tool for a zip file?

I have a zip file that requires a password to extract the file inside of it. Is there away to do this automatically Can't find any software that does this. Mike If you value your time, try CozyRoc Zip Task . Thanks for the example. So, what would be the syntax for zipping each individual file in a directory expression: " e " + @[User::ZipFileName] + " -y" + " -ptestpassword" evaluates to: "C:\Program Files\7-Zip\7z.exe" e "D:\Test\Dropoff\update2.zip" -y -ptestpassword you might want to try getting your command to run from a dos prompt. once you verify it does what you want, create the expression to duplicate it. • Richard Hough Running DTS packages from 2005 SQL Server

Hi DBAs, I have a dilemma and I hope you can help me with it… Here is the deal: I am migrating a database from 32-bit SQL Server 2K to 64-bit SQL Server 2005. There is a DTS package that transfers data between my old database and a Sybase db. There is no Sybase client on my new server. I stored the DTS package on a server that has all providers available and changed the connection strings pointing to the newly migrated 2005 database. There is a batch file stored on the same server as the package that initiates it using dtsrun command. The package executes successfully if I run it from the host server; however every attempt of calling the batch file from the 2005 64-bit box gives me provider errors. ...Show All

  • Kathirvel Mirroring problem between pcs in different location (Witness Issue)

I am facing this problem here. Well , I did setup mirroring in LAN successfully (using certificates). Then I try to implement the same method for WAN. Here's the info : Principal : location A (111.222.333.444,1234:5022) Mirror : location B (444.555.666.777:5022) Witness : location A (111.222.333.444,5678:5022) For the mirror side, I didn't put any firewall settings at all; and both principal n witness , i did open the specific port for mirroring endpoint n sql. However, when I start mirroring , it shows 'The server network address "TCP://444.555.666:5022" can not be reached or does not exist. • AlexGold Similar problem

Hi folks, I’m relatively new to both SQL Reporting Services as well as .Net programming. I come from a Crystal Reports background and I’m running into a problem duplicating a common technique used in my old Crystal reports. The simplified description of the problem I’m having is this… it seems that public shared variables are evaluated in the wrong order when accessing them from code in grouped tables. It seems that the group header is evaluated first, then the group footer and finally all the detail rows. As a result, if I modify a shared variable in the details section of a grouped table, that modification isn’t recognized in the group footer. Here are the details of what I’m trying to accomplish… I have added a table to my report which ...Show All

  • Vimal Kaul Report Manager Did not Install.

Hi, I installed SSE Advanced Services. Then I tried to install the Toolkit -- the install complained that it had nothing to do. I searched the forums, and somewhere found a suggestion to reverse the install order. As I am installing this on a VM, I reverted to my pre-install snapshot and installed the toolkit then installed SSE Advanced Services. The Advanced services install complained a little, saying the Client Tools were already installed. In any case, it all seemed ok, and I have created a test report in BIDS and deployed it. I can view it just fine using the report server. However, I can't view it using the Report Manager. In fact, I don't think the Report Manager installed. If I run the Reporting Services Configuration tool, the opt ...Show All

  • dto How to launch package from client machine, display progress and finally results?

Please help. I'm completely new to SSIS, and I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction(s). I am developing a winforms client app, and I need to be able to provide the user with the ability to import data in CSV format into our application's database. I'd like to use SSIS if possible, as long as what I am trying to do isn't near impossible. I'm thinking of a UI where the user can specify a flat file (CSV) to upload and be processed by an SSIS package on a remote database server. This package will be responsible for validating the CSV file and inserting data into the database as appropriate. Is there a way I can: launch an SSIS package remotely, from a winforms app on the client machine that is not runni ...Show All

  • KimberlyL Transact-SQL Common Features?????

Hi The white paper which compares SQL Express and SQL Compact says that they both share Common Features Can someone please indicate if SQL Compact will support functions like Average, STDEv etc Thanks Touraj The full list of functions support is listed in the SQLCE documentation available - here - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx familyid=E6BC81E8-175B-46EA-86A0-C9DACAA84C85&displaylang=en It does support AVG but not STDev SQL CE was developed from SQL Mobile which did not have STDev as part of the implementation. If I remember correctly STDev was a function added in SQL Server 7. It is not a SQL92 or SQL99 function. So I would guess the answer would be along ...Show All

  • Ashish.Net De-duping data

I have a list of companies that all have the same Company Id but have formatting issues with the names. For example I have the following: CompanyId Name 12345 Microsoft 12345 Microsoft Inc. 12345 Microsoft, Inc. I figured I would use a simple data flow task to insert the company id and name into a company table where the primary key is the company id (I would then ignore the errors of duplicate keys). I was expecting to see the first instance of the company inserted into the company table and the dupes ignored. That's not the case - I get an error on duplicate primary keys. Can I not do this You are right. But, how would a sort transorm work to eliminate dupes ...Show All

  • Daniel Danilin Web Sync: strange behaviour with the snapshot size

Hi There's *strange* behaviour with snapshot size during subscription initialization. So... The initial snapshot has size about 9Mb at the publisher. After subscription creation, I notice that the subscriber downloads about 21 MB. It seems to me, that the snapshot is unpacked on the IIS, next, part of the files are packed again and just after it the changed snaphot is sent to the subscriber. Why How it can be solved It brings some extent nuisance... Thanks Paul It could be merge metadata, or it could be changes. You can find out by querying the MSmerge_sessions table at the subscriber or publisher to see if there were any other rows/changes uploaded or downloaded. Also, the ...Show All

I am trying to set up a SQL mirroring senario - I have some questions Do I need to purchase an extra SQL Server license for the SQL server instance on the Mirror what about the Witness does that also need a separate license/ Can the witness be a virtual server on the Mirror box itself Do I still require a license if the witness is on a virtual server Thanks jawahar I think Mirror - you do need another license Witness - you could run it off any other SQL server, or use the FREE SQL Server 2005 Express regardless of VM or not If you need OS for VM, Windows 2003 Enterprise allows up to 4 VM licenses (ie. 1 host + 4 VM) #1. • kkahara Problems with disconnected recordsets i Yukon

We have a VB6 application using ADO 2.8 connecting to SQL Server. We use disconnected recordset to load data to client-side. The client does updates in the recordset and then sends it back to server-side component that converts the recordset into SQL to update the database. No problems in SQL 2000 but on Yukon we get error when trying to update the disconnected recordset on the client.   Error: -2147217887 Multiple-step operation generated errors.
