• GunaChinna Trouble importing numbers from Excel file

  I'm using SQL Server 20005. I'm trying to import an Excel file that has column with some values being exlcusively numbers and other values that are text. Before importing, I formatted this column as text in Excel. To import the data I'm using the SQL Server Import and Export Wizard. The problem: The wizard sets this particular field to nvarchar(255). This length works and the data type seems like it should too. But, when I complete the import, none of the numbers are imported - only the text. Where the numbers should be, it is null. No errors are given. I've tried changing to the data type to text, ntext, varchar but none seem to work - only the text is imported. • MCP_SS Sql Server 2005 Notification Services - Delivery Status Code 4

    Environment: SQL 2005 version 9.0.1399 32 bit on Windows 2003 2 different notification instances running Problem: One of my notification instances is receiving a delivery status code 4. The other instance is delivering e-mails with no problems. How do i figure out what is the real error code that causing the delivery status code 4. Gene   I have found no errors in the windows or sql event logs. The only reason I know that the e-mail was not sent was do to the delivery status code being 4. Try to found it on the event viewer.   Hi, I am running SQL Server 2000 (SP3A) Enterprise on Windows 2000 Cluster, and am currently experiencing performance slowness. Among the many things to be looked at, I want to know particularly whether I can sp_configure the SQL Server priority boost to 1 I read an article from Microsof ( http://support.microsoft.com/kb/319942/ ) that this is not to be done in clusters. I also have read discussions from other DBAs that it may be OK. The cluster is a 2-node cluster, each owns one named instance of SQL Server. And the cluster is dedicated to running SQL Server.   I'm very new to the MSDN world. I have 2005 CD I just purchased and would like to install SQL 2000. Is this possible or is only 2005 version bundled with this subscription Thank you...   I have a design a SSIS Package for ETL Process. In my package i have to read the data from the tables and then insert into the another table of same structure. for reading the data i have write the Dynamic TSQL based on some condition and based on that it is using 25 different function to populate the data into different 25 column. Tsql returning correct data and is working fine in Enterprise manager. But in my SSIS package it show me time out ERROR. I have increase and decrease the time to catch the error but it is still there i have tried to set 0 for commandout Properties. if i'm using the 0 for commandtime out then i'm getting the Distributed transaction completed.   Hi, Was trying to open AdventureWorks when i got this error: "There is no editor available "C: Program Flies.....\AdventureWorksDW_Log.LDF' Make sure the application for the file type(.LDF) is installed. How can this error be corrected I also have some error on mdf not installed.May i know how should be the initally steps to be done inorder for me to view this database. • MikeTomkies Problem with querry performance locally vs. network

  Hi, I work on speed-up our company SQL Server 2000. I reconstructed one querry and test it on client computer (other than server). There was no profit. I was surprised :(. I supposed several times speed-up. Next I run old and new querry directly on our SQL Server machine. The result was proper - new (after modifications) querry takes 2,5 times less time than previous. Ok, question: why there wasn't profit of modification from client computer I thougth that reason is slow network. So I copy from client computer file of weight 80MB to server. This takes 10seconds.   Hi all, I've been trying all day to install SQL Server Express edition on my development machine, I 've uninstalled other Express Editions that I have previously installed, at least none show in add/remove programs. When i try to run the setup program i get the message that i have incompatible programs still installed. I don't know what they would be. None are listed in the program list as I have said. I tried to run the uninstallbeta program on the SQL Server Express page, but I keep getting an error that the "framedyn.dll" cannot be found, reinstalling the application may help! lol ! • Chris Lively continuous merge replication - event log

  Hi I have set up merge replication and it works nicely. I have set it up to work continuously, because I thought that if it can't find the subscriber or is offline then that's fine it will just sync again when it's back on line. This is true BUT it keeps throwing lots of messages into the event log to tell me the merge has failed. SO a. Can i just turn off the error reporting or b. How can I get it to sync this way automatically on connection without the error messages thanks ICW Unfortunately there's nothing built in to suppress these messages.  Maybe instead of running continuously, you can schedule it to run frequently, like every 10 minutes ...Show All
