Paul Stovell opening new tab in IE7 via IHTMLWindow2::open method. Possible?
hi i need to open new tab in IE7 from my extension code and to get an IHTMLWindow2*, pointing to this tab. Exactly tab, not a new window. Is it possible to do it via IHTMLWindow2::open method or are where any other ways to do it from extension I walked through some docs and forums and heard opinions that a place(new window or tab) in which IE7 opens pop-ups (as ones created by IHTMLWindow2::open) is controlled by user settings and extension can't change it Can't anyone tell is it so So sad if it is.... jdr5 Search result appears in "Indexed Locations" but not in "Everywhere" on Vista
My custom protocol handler is finally working to the point where I can search for keywords indexed from a custom store and get the appropriate results back. BUT, this only works if I search specifically in "Indexed Locations". If I go into the search textbox in the start menu and just type in a search term, it searches by default in a location called, "Everywhere". This location should be a superset of "Indexed Locations", but search results for items indexed via my protocol handler do not appear here. They only appear if I actually NARROW the search to look only in indexed locations. Can someone explain why this would be the case, and how I can fix my code so that my results appear when a user searches ...Show All
Gary2006 Problem configuring a custom protocol handler on Vista RC1
I have developed a hierarchical custom search protocol handler, which I have been trying to integrate with Windows Search on Vista. The steps I've taken to register the handler are: 1. Create a REG_SZ value under HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Windows Search/ProtocolHandlers. The MSN WDS Toolbar documentation mentions an AddProtocol method that can be called on the SearchManager, but this does not exist in the ISearchManager interface in Vista (see searchapi.h in the SDK), so given the lack of documentation for alternatives I've registered the key directly. 2. Use ISearchCrawlScopeManager to add a search root and default scope. The search root is created with IsHierchical = TRUE and FollowDirectories = TRUE. The registration itself compl ...Show All
centexbi Repeatedly added script element isn't requested from server in IE7
I've an Internet Explorer application that dynamically adds a script element to an HTML document. The script element's code is put in an external file (good old ASP) and contains headers that prevent IE from caching the file. In some situations, the same script element is added once again to the document. This works fine in IE6 (i.e. the script file is requested again from the web server), but in IE7, there's no second request for the script file. It seems that IE7 caches the script internally. This behavior can be avoided by adding a 'random' querystring to the script element's src property or by using a timeout when adding the script element. Is this a known difference between IE6 and IE7 or is it a bug Does IE7 contain similar 'op ...Show All
gabrielocio WDS does not index NTFS mount point
My C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents folder is set up as an NTFS mount point for another volume. It is not listed as a child of the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users folder in the Windows Desktop Search "Indexed Locations" window, and is not indexed. Is there any way to force WDS to index this folder/mount I am using version 3.0 Beta 2 with the Office 2007 Beta 2 Refresh. Corres Need to hide address bar through my aspx page(C#)
Hi guys, I need to hide the address bar and do the same thing as in switches that window.open uses in its last argument, the window features. e.g.:- var windowFeatures = "toolbar=yes, location=no,status=yes, menubar=yes, scrollbars=yes"; window.open(" http://www.yahoo.com ", "myWindow", windowFeatures); Instead of the code above, I want to control the window features using the code behind in my aspx page. Could somebody help Please email me at ranjit.gill@gmail.com thanks, Ranjit Hi Ranjit, In IE6 SP1, IE6 SP2 and IE7 there are user settings that will stop you doing this, as hiding the address bar (or altering the url in the address bar) is commonly used ...Show All

janthonyb1 What is BP for storing component configuration?
I am working on custom ShippingMethod's that will have more configuration data than StepWiseShipping and I would like to be able to pack and unpack the custom configuration data. Although ShippingMethod's are pipeline components, they are run by the ShippingMethodRouter and do not appear directly in the pipeline. Therefore the pipeline editor can not be used to edit the configuration. Similarly, the Customer and Orders Manager only knows how to edit a standard ShippingMethod like StepWiseShipping. So I will need to provide a custom configuration data editor. It seems like the way to do this is to: Create support for a custom data store (such as a new table or XML file) for the configuration data. Register the configuration d ...Show All
.NET_Developer W3C?
Hey, This is actually just a question, since i couldn't find the information, i would like to try the forum. My questions sounds: Are the new Internet Explorer 7 using the W3C validation without any specifications that makes html pages "tilt" and look clumsy in browsers than IE (currently thinking on Firefox, Netscape etc.). Best regards Michael Nielsen Michael, I'm sorry, I didn't quite understand your question. Can you rephrase, please If you're asking about WC3 compliance, many posts on the IE blog on MSDN describe the team's forcus and goals for compliance. Perhaps one of the posts there would answer your question. I can say that there were changes to the way IE7 handles certain CSS rules and features, espe ...Show All
filii_neo IE7 RC1 Loads PDF in background Tab, it is blank.
Using IE7 RC1 in XP SP2, loading PDF in background Tab, it does not show(blank), you need to refresh it to show th PDF file. I made a few unsuccessful attempts to fix this same problem, but I reinstalled Acrobat Reader 7.0.8 again and during the installation I chose to have Acrobat Reader 7.0.8 be the default program to open pdf files rather than my Acrobat Standard v6.0.5 3/1/2006. The problem appears to be gone. ahmedilyas wrote: I believe your question is not related to Internet Explorer Web Development, as these forums are.
